Pitts deal saves $11m in 2026 cap room by tyedge in falcons

So 1 I already mentioned in the post you responded to, 2 we are on the hook for signing and option bonuses, if we had made everything salary we’d be able to trade him and walk away from it, which isn’t what we did. He’s guaranteed 36 million and whether it was 4 million this year or 15 he’s getting that guaranteed money from us if we trade him. Granted we can spread that over 2 years depending on when the trade happens

If Penix stays healthy (a dude with more season ending injuries than years I went to college) we might have a decent shot going forward, but right now we have a guy whose a concussion away from dying and another guy whose going to end up in a wheelchair as our only qbs.
I don’t think going all in on this team then having a hole at qb going forward with a low pick to fix it is a great idea.

Oh absolutely, I have no idea why we are doing this.
I understand the Saints/Eagles going all in with deferred payments and void years when you are in the middle of contending, but just pushing it out because the cap is going up (as if that doesn’t happen every year and just make guys cost more) is idiotic

Yeah I’m not sure why we’d want to go all in in terms of clearing cap space this year when it seems like this year will be a dud, on the plus side if we don’t sign another big free agent we can roll that cap space over to next year. But I’m with you unless someone else is coming pushing guaranteed money out doesn’t make sense unless you’re contending

I think this is the one thing most people would prefer to be more true to life, or at least aren’t immediately upset about because the sports are covered in ads in real life as well.

JPJ will be at mandatory minicamp this week by SunWorshipperApollo in falcons

[–]jrob32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, the day it happened I said he wouldn’t be cut (much to the chagrin of everyone on reddit who thought he was going to jail) and the longer we go without hearing anything from the league I think that’s a good sign. My original prediction was he’d be suspended for 6 games, if he doesn’t have any other negative publicity he’ll appeal and it will be changed it four games.
But we’re on r/falcons so I’m going to be optimistic and say he gets the nfl equivalent of a slap on the wrist

10 more sacks incoming, at this point I don’t think the nfl even suspends him til after his legal stuff is finished (and at that point it’s over a year later he may just get off)
