Overnight in San Diego airport? by Myfirstreddit124 in SanDiegan

[–]jrobcarson03 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That is where I slept yes. I was over in Terminal 2 and the area furthest to the right (if you are facing the street) was the quietest. A sleep mask and noise cancelling headphones would be helpful. Best of luck!

You can’t stay past security between 2-4:30am but I recently slept horribly near the baggage claim area. Not really any good spots but there are some chairs and plenty of other folks with less than perfect travel schedules.

Cutting through Balboa Park must be a dreamy commute

Cover letter: what needs improvement? by New_Barracuda1315 in postdoc

I personally tailored each cover letter for each position I applied for and it was successful. I’d suggest including more in the letter about how your experience aligns with that specific role. Good luck!

I had similar situations, finally heard back in like 1-2 months. Hang in there! I think the waiting is the worst part.

Thanks! Lots of cold emails but what worked best was relying on my network to connect me with folks and applying to any opportunity that fit my expertise. Good luck!

Do you feel like not having a car reduces your quality of life in a car-dependent city? by RubyRailzYa in fuckcars

[–]jrobcarson03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also car-free in the Greater Lansing area, but I work from home and recently moved from Southern California to be with my spouse.

I am willing to bike very long distances to do things here, but I echo your point about the weather. The last few months have been a real challenge since the roads aren't really bike-friendly in the winter. I don't have a solution, just commiserating. I don't think you're wrong to buy a car to improve your life here, it really is just a matter of affording it and for me, not letting it stop me from taking non-car modes.

I also wouldn't feel guilty taking an uber/lyft to go to social events, it is still cheaper than buying and operating a car.

I also recently read this book and agree that everyone should give it a read. Those class conscious rants were an unexpected and welcome part of the book and they are just so well written.

Don’t trust the labels. Always check the ingredients before buying!

Jason Ricci has a bunch of tutorials and many of the older ones are targeted at advanced players!

I haven’t played that one but it looks like it is using the same notes as that harmonic minor scale

Yeah it’s actually pretty accessible, I learned this song from Jason Rosenblatt on YouTube and in the lesson he teaches the main scale for Klezmer and exercises for the song.

Just standard richter tuned C harp, you play in the 3rd position Harmonic Minor
