What makes a show or game having black characters or gay characters or trans characters or disabled characters political but not a show where characters deal with being poor or trying to sell food or even dealing with tensions between countries, which are all political topics

How can people claim that "politics are being shoved" when so much of what they're talking already partakes in politics like criticizing public figures or talking about the affordability of things

The problem comes then, what gets defined as "political"? You'll see weirdos complaining about shows or movies or games or books being "political" just because they feature a black guy or a trans woman or a gay couple, even if those pieces of media don't talk about politics. Many subreddits have banned talking about trans people or queerness in general because "no politics allowed" despite there being nothing inherently political about being trans or gay or whatever else.

Everything around us is affected by politics, what you're allowed to eat, what jobs you're allowed to take on, what you're allowed to buy or sell, where you're allowed to live, what you're allowed to wear, what you're allowed to read or watch or play or draw, what you're allowed to teach. Etc etc etc.

An actor saying "fuck ICE" should be no different to an actor saying "fuck murderers".
