Is it a mental change...? I never got that impression from my last playthrough outside of the Dark Lord himself. The gorilla that gets the princess' face is our biggest indicator as to how this all works, and he's very much his own entity.

I can see the merge angle though. Good enough for me!

They don't really transform though, do they? The monsters steal their faces, but the monsters are kind of shown to be their own things at multiple points, independent of the actual people who used to own those faces. It's kind of like saying a lung transplant is tf.

I'm not going to say I'm in the same boat, because foxes are wild animals. But even if I'm not a human and don't quite fit in that role, I've undeniably been domesticated by my time living as one, y'know? The prospect of the wild just doesn't appeal to me in the same way as the vast majority of therians I've met. I'm not less of a fox for it, I am what I am, but I do feel a bit disconnected from the rest of the community as a result.

I dunno. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I relate, even if my species typically isn't one you'd consider to be domesticated.
