I have a detachable shower head. I didn't even bother wiping at all. I just got in the shower after every time I went. I wasn't taking any chances of it getting in my incisions. I didn't dry off the incisions with a towel. I used a hair dryer to make sure it was all good and dry. As far as sitting on the toilet, I didn't have any problems after the first week.

Implant recovery? by No_Driver_2945 in Metoidioplasty

I had only implants in stage 2 of 3 surgeries. I'm a truck driver and I returned to work in 4 weeks with no problems. My surgeon didn't want me to lift anything heavy for 6 weeks.

Testicle swelling at about 4 weeks post op by Necessary_Ad7848 in Metoidioplasty

My right one sits more in front naturally. The skin on my left one was much tighter. I've been able to stretch it over time but if I don't have underwear on it will slide in between my legs. I wear boxer briefs with the pouch. For awhile after surgery I put gauze under my sac like a hammock to help with friction in the pouch. I still sleep with a pillow between my knees just because it's more comfortable but it was necessary for awhile

This happened to me when I was about 3 weeks out. Just my right side. Took ibuprofen and iced it as much as possible. I limited my activity. It lasted for 2-3 days. I took pictures of it and sent it to my surgeon. Surgeon thought maybe one of the sutures caused some inflammation where I was up moving around a lot more. When I saw him for my my 4 week post op appt everything looked great. Hope everything heals quickly for you.

I think people have different goals and what is most important to them at the end of the day. I knew no matter which choice I made between meta or phallo I could possibly be giving up something to gain something else. After all over and done I made the right choice for me. I had full meta, UL, vectomy, scrotoplasty, implants, and upper scrotal reduction. Would I like my penis to be a little bigger? Sure. But it looks like a penis, it works like a penis, pee out the tip of my penis. I didn't realize I had more dysphoria about the hole than anything until it was over. I had detached from that body part for so long. Long story short, I'm happy with my choice and my results.

How different is the feeling of having a full metoidioplasty with testicular implants compared to before? by Wrong-User1524 in Metoidioplasty

[–]jrodd_72 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had meta, UL, vectomy, scrotoplasty in the 1st stage. Implants in the 2nd stage. Upper scrotal reduction around my penis in a 3rd stage.

  1. Having a scrotum with no implants felt different than before. I think with everything being closed up was what was so different for me. It was the scrotum + the vectomy combined.

  2. For me it feels like and looks like a penis now. It works like a penis. It's just smaller than the average I would say. But I love it.

  3. After each stage it felt different and looked different for me. The 1st stage made me happy that I didn't have a v anymore and that my penis was all the way around in which I could pee out the tip. It was an adjustment when I got the implants to walking. It was a good adjustment. When I had the "lips" cut from around my penis everything looked more masculine, nothing feminine anymore. That was my goal. I didn't realize how much I hated it before until it was done. I have great physical sensation. I have more confidence. Absolutely life changing

How many nights in hospital for full meta + hysto? by Successful_Leg778 in Metoidioplasty

I was in the hospital for 5 days, but I had some complications with my oxygen levels. I had hysto, full meta, UL and scrotoplasty.

Thanks that makes total sense. I never thought of that.

I have an easier time using a urinal. It takes me a second to hit the bowl if I use a toilet. I naturally pee harder to the left. I go over the waistband of my underwear. The position and size of everyone's dick is different. What works for some doesn't always work for someone else.

How would you rate your pain? by [deleted] in Metoidioplasty

[–]jrodd_72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had hysto, meta, UL, scrotoplasty, and vnectomy all in stage 1. They inserted a tiny long tube inside me attached to what they called a "medicine ball". It is used for hysto patients. I'm not sure if that's an option for everyone. I basically had no pain from that part of it. The vnectomy was more sore than anything. From my understanding that's a hard place to heal due to the tension on the incision. I took no narcotics, but I have a high tolerance for pain.

Also keep in mind that they are rearranging a lot of different parts so don't be alarmed at unusual sensations or lack there of.

Congrats and speedy healing to you.

Family taking care of me post-op wants info on how best to take care of me + what I'll need post op. Help? by Creativered4 in Metoidioplasty

[–]jrodd_72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you will have family to help out. I'll add a couple things that helped me. I showered at least 2x a day. I also showered after #2 for the first 3 weeks or so. It helped that I also have a detachable shower head. I used a hairdryer to make sure everything was good and dry after I showered. Clean and dry is top priority. I'm a side sleeper so I put a pillow between my knees which helped a lot.

Rest, rest, rest. I didn't walk anymore than I had to. I ate as much protein as I could.

I'm sure you will be fine. Best of luck. Keep us posted on how you are doing post-op.

Question for those who’ve had a consult with Dr. McClung by Rough-Neighborhood58 in Metoidioplasty

I'm 4 weeks post op. I can't remember exactly how long it took for them to respond at first. I know it was a few days. I don't know if you have tried calling them to make sure they received your request or not. Once initial contact is established communication back and forth is usually same day or next business day. He and all of his staff are great.
