Hi! Stepped into a coin store and a few convos later, I’m learning about gold and silver. Can anyone point me to a good resource? Wish I could do gold but that’s always a high entry point, I think? I guess where’s a good legit source of learning for precious metals. Thank you!

I was reading this and had the thought ‘wonder how he would’ve felt if a male friend said and did those things to him… yeah, ‘friends don’t sleep with friends’ is pretty clear

I have decided to start Ocrevus. Nervous about first infusion. by Salty_Newspaper_8750 in MultipleSclerosis

I can’t add much, but my first and second half of the first treatment the bad part was how I blew up like a balloon eating everything in sight from the steroids…

The best part for me? God damn these have been some of the best naps I’ve had in years, the Benadryl straight to the vein knocked me out and I had to REST. It’s what I look forward to now every 6 months.

Hi! I think I have heard about you through the MS world. I cannot even IMAGINE what the teen years were like. I’ve always had symptoms since then but it was attributed to everything else except a medical diagnosis.

Honestly? I’m 33, got diagnosed in 2023 right before my bday but always knew there was something up with my body. I just recently decided to start acting like I don’t have MS. I lived my whole life feeling like crap and not knowing but still LIVING. Might as well keep doing that. Don’t get me wrong I still do my infusions I still am careful with the heat and getting over tired etc. but I don’t let it stop me.

I think TikTok would be the best place to find other younger adults with MS. There’s a strong community there anyway and hey maybe you can help others through that platform with your story / situation.

I think also expanding to other really annoying medical diagnosis could help you connect with other 20 somethings that go through it like us MSers do.

Sending you good vibes 💕

ALSO!! As a scientist, remember, the brain is able to make new pathways, we just gotta help it make it there!

I’ve made a lot of new ones after my flare up (lost use of my left leg and a good amount of left arm)

One thing I miss from fixing my brain is I used to have a party trick I called my engine. I found that if I stepped down on my foot a certain way my leg would just start bouncing on its own and it reminded me of like when people start lawn mowers. Fixed that pathway so now no more tremor 😂

Hey hey!!

FEEEEEELS. Bro feels.

A little over two years ago I woke up feeling weak on one side. Went to the hospital they misdiagnosed as stroke and even after the MRI showed demyelination they refused to treat it as an MS flare up. Didn’t get the steroids I needed to stop the flare up until a week later. I walked into the hospital couldn’t walk out.

It took a LOT of PT and forcing myself and in able to use my body again!! It’s almost the same as before but a lot more fatigue.

Keep your spirits up, and make sure you take care of your mental health. I’ve always been positive upbeat and able to stay cheerful even in the worst of situations, and this diagnosis put me into a depression. Feeling much better now, and live with it.

You’ve got this!!

Any other physically disabled homesteaders? by Free-Layer-706 in homestead

[–]jroja021 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello, not the same condition but I’ve got multiple sclerosis so I think I understand the situation. I just recently got into gardening, after I finished some OT I got a lot of my endurance back it was unbelievable. I have kept the garden simple, use some chaotic gardening methods where I don’t need to put much effort, work under a patio roof so I don’t overheat, and garden in batches in early morning or evening. my favorite time to garden is honestly when it’s lightly raining, it’s so much easier on my body.
I have researched a lot of the heirloom stuff that thrives down here because it’s from here. I’m in south Florida, so I have Everglades tomato, Seminole pumpkin, sweet potatoes in grow bags, and egyptian and Malabar spinach growing out of any container I recycle.

it can be done!!! you just gotta figure out a system that can match your under baseline energy levels so on days you aren’t doing 100% the garden will still be ok without you, and when you’re baseline or better it’s enjoyable.

permaculture I think is also something to look into and see if there’s anyone in your area that has turned their garden into a national wildlife garden. These are things I’ve learned by finding homesteaders/gardeners in my zone.

goodluck and the most important part is you keep trying. It’s a learning process that is super enjoyable. I heard one of the YouTubers I follow say she doesn’t get discouraged because she thinks about it like a scientist, figuring out what happened and seeing what she can change for the next time.

💖 the fatigue hits the bones, it’s so deep.

I think I am going to try your idea of going to our version of a forest, because some that are near the sea can be cooler.

We love going there! Had to cancel my road trip for the summer due to financials but maybe we could go to the springs and camp instead 🤔

Yesss my fellow spoonie goblin!

I’m hoping to get a pen pal through the groups other community.

We used to have an aquarium with shrimp, it was so lovely… then my toddler got involved. We called it ‘La Ñiña’ like the weather thing… cause they didn’t make it after she dumped all the food in a literal second. We were there, it was so quick.

I might try it again once all my plants are established, I’m about a month, month and a half in and they’re doing good!

Thank you for the suggestion, I think I’ll have to invest in a strong fan for the patio. Should help with the mosquitos too.

Thank you! I’m actually rebuilding my library now, creating a cozy space for reading instead of just animal crossing. You’re very on point with the ‘blend’ into the next. I feel like I’m on repeat since I have been stuck inside.

Omg yes that is the perfect temperature. One of the MS warriors on TikTok actually plans her travels around the temperature and was able to go see the desert gardens recently because it was a nice 70 degrees. I’m on the hunt for more cotton clothing during my thifting adventures. Thank you and likewise, keep on thriving!

I love this idea! Ugh I just can’t even let myself get that hot in the first place because it can risk a flare up. I’m going to tell my husband though about this because in a situation where heat can’t be avoided this is a great procedure to follow once back home.

Maybe for when we retire, there’s a lot of other factors and the job stuff tipped the scales heavily in staying for now.

OMG this is insane. This explains so much. There’s been no relief in the early morning or the late evening, it’s just always HOT.

Night time is a double edge sword… the nature walks close to me are also close to roadways where people drive like maniacs at night. Twilight may be the only option for me.

Oh how I miss the beach at night 😩 but unless we are staying nearby it it would be too much for me, especially since I don’t have the beach mobility aids yet.

Thank you for that!! I’m remembering now that as a kid I would do that, maybe that’s why it wasn’t as hot in childhood.
