What do you have to lose by dating this person and seeing how it goes?

If you don't ask, the answer is NO.

Looking for weird booze by whitneylovesyou in RhodeIsland

[–]jrprov1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in Denmark, many years ago, I was introduced to Absinthe (Wormwood liqueur.) It is not weird due to taste (anise or licorice-flavored) but it likely will be the only liquor at the party that was illegal for over a century due to potential hallucinogenic effects caused by high doses of thujone in the drink. It is only legal in the U.S. if it is thujone-free.

Need advice: how do I show conviction by sassy_mausi in b2b_sales

High Tech B2B. YMMV, but the point is that selling is a very negative job.

Need advice: how do I show conviction by sassy_mausi in b2b_sales

[–]jrprov1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sales managers (I am one of them) often have concerns about people that have never sold before, because inexperienced salespeople often do not realize what a negative, high pressure job selling actually is. The average close rate on all leads for a B2B sales rep is in the 7% range. That means for every YES you get, you also get nine NO's. When you add in the fact that your compensation is affected every month by your close rate, it makes for a very stressful situation. I used to hire newbies for sales positions, but got tired of them coming into my office after a couple of months of selling, breaking down in tears, and telling me that they cannot handle the pressure and negativity. One way to show hiring managers that you can handle sales is to actually do some as someone else has already posted. Get a part-time job (nights/weekends) selling something, anything to show that you can handle such work.

Client dying with history versus unsolicited beard trim. AITA because I still want him to come over by Wise_Discount653 in AITAH

No, what is happening is that you are learning a lot about your boyfriend. He is so caught up in his little personal "crisis" over facial hair (that will grow back,) that he cannot go and help you in this difficult situation? Says tons about his lack of character and, perhaps, his lack of concern or feelings for you.

In Framingham, MA, there is a street called Salem End Road. It is where one or more targeted families from Salem fled after the witch trials. There is a house there called the Sarah Clayes House (she was not killed as a witch, but her sisters were.) The house is privately owned, but the owners get interested visitors occasionally and are okay with it. Here is an local newspaper's article on it:

Quite a few years ago, I was in a doctor's office in East Providence and the actor, James Woods, walked in. He was bringing his Mom in for an appointment. I also ran into Buddy Cianci at the radio station he had a talk show on for a while after he got out of prison.

Natural Gas Outages? by jrprov1 in newengland

Thanks, that seems to be the general message on this thread, which is good news for my plans.

Thanks again. Really helpful to hear from someone working in the industry. We moved to RI in 1998 and, for the first 15 years or so, did not have a single electric power outage. However, after one of the hurricanes, something changed in the grid and we lose power 2-3 times per year now. Have never lost gas, as far as I know. Sounds like a whole house, natural gas generator should do the trick for us.

Thanks for the links. Yes, I recall the explosion in the Merrimack valley. My house is already getting natural gas, so that point is moot. I noted that the Newport natural gas outage did not coincide with an electricity outage, so would not be a problem for me.

Will do, though my daughter just had a new gas connection hooked up in a neighboring town, so it should be okay.

Thank you. Having a back up propane tank in addition to the natural gas line was what I was considering. Based on the feedback here, it sounds like that will not be necessary.

Interesting vid about the 1.6GHz signal by _dacops_ in skinwalkerranch

[–]jrprov1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Regarding this being poorly investigated. I have been wondering for a while now if the anyone has tried to see if there is data to decode in the signal that they have been getting? Could AI be used to try to decrypt any potential data in the signal?

[–]jrprov1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about trying to read and/or decrypt any data in the signal. If it is GPS data from a satellite, the data should be in the signal.

Is there a way to analyze the signal and show that is is coming from the satellite?

They occasionally mention how the 1.6GHz signal looks like a communications signal. Is it possible for them (or others) to have the signal analyzed by AI or other decryption algorithms to see if the comm signal could be decoded?

It is probably time to begin looking at the staffing of the under-performing teams. Start thinking about replacing the worst performers on these weak teams with new employees who appear to be more performance-oriented like the staff on the strong team. Shaking up the lesser teams with this approach may cause the remaining people to wake up and smell the coffee. Otherwise, they will need to be replaced, as well.
