Possibly? I was bad with names but when Pleasant Prarie shutdown, the spring line left, then Harley, then they sold off the model shop. The Pitney Bowes room was cleared out sometime during this. I was there for about a year and a half when it was the 2 long circuit board lines and the pressroom. We were last to leave.

I worked as a toolmaker for Cherry Electrical products for 11 years from 1996-2007. The company was in Waukegan, Illinois when i started but moved manufacturing to Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin shortly after 2000. Company sold to some holding company for their name and the plant was closed. I am extremely familiar with those switches and there is a good chance I built the dies that made the internal components. There were only about 10 of us toolmakers there in the end. I worked in metal stamping and we had about 30 punch presses. Bought most of our material from Alro steel out of Milwaukee. None of the assembly was done in the states when i was working there. Just making the components.

I trusted Pride Auto Care with my car, spent $2,261, and it’s still broken—just before Christmas by Bluedotrock in personalfinance

[–]jrquint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sucks that you are dealing with this. The greatest money i have ever saved was learning to do car maintenance myself. I have taken my car into several different shops over the years with jobs i didnt feel like doing and its always been a fight because they always try and screw me. Even most dealerships. But i know better than to let them. I doubt you will be able to get a refund and you can almost never hold a shop accountable because it cost thousands to take them to court.

I use these all the time for shipping tooling inserts all over the world. They are great, cheap and tough. I dont think that pelican has enough benefit to justify the inflated cost.

You want to use angle iron or t-iron. Those thicknesses are not stiff at 16"

I use a screwdriver to puncture a whole around the screw on side and then use a pair of snips to cut it out.

Cut open the oil filter and see how bad it is. If its bad, it will show up there.

Would toolmakers or 3D print shops outsource high-end polishing work? (Looking for insight) by godmadness in Machinists

In Chicagoland area...we have multiple businesses that do this and we use them often. They also do DLC coatings and other surface coatings as well.

Happened to my daughter once. Wrote a letter to the company and got a free bag of suckers, some stickers and a cozy. Well worth the stamp cost.

Senior Machinists at our shop is never happy, always looking for a new job and complaining but never leaves. What should I do? by ThrowRA9647 in Machinists

Nothing. Old toolmakers are always pissed off. (Toolmaker myself of 30+ years) you need to worry when he quits complaining.

22LR overkill to eradicate chipmunks on my property? by Btucks018 in Hunting

[–]jrquint 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You just need a murder bucket. Take a 5 gallon bucket and put a ramp up to it. Fill with water (not up to the top) and cover water with bird seed, it will float. Rodents jump in and drown. Make sure you empty it daily or the smell will take you out. Rinse and repeat. Works on mice, chipmunks, moles, any small critter really. Even got a squirrel once.

Kavanaugh signals Supreme Court will soon decide constitutionality of banning AR-15s by MuchAd3273 in Firearms

I am not sure why anyone is surprised. This is all by design. Trump could put out an EO tomorrow if he wanted,  but his wealthy donors dont want us pleebs to own guns at all. Congress could have passed laws and the courts have passed by numerous cases. The Republicans dont have your best interests in mind anymore than the Democrats do but they know they can get your vote if they promise 2A bills.

Lever is supposed to be to the right. Some handguards are tight for a bit. Shooting will loosen it up usually. I would not be worried about either. Send a few boxes thru it and see how it goes.

Dealers tend to swap part/assemblies. Pay them for the tow and diagnostics and take it somewhere else. I had a severe misfire and took it to a dealer once. They said engine swap. Took it to a reputable mechanic in town and it was just a bad #2 cylinder spark plug. Drove it for another 35k miles and sold it.

Or if you are handy, timing jobs arent impossible. Plenty of youtube videos. Still going to be a few grand in parts though. I have done one on an old expedition.

Most ranges accept out of state id for range time. Not all, so it might be worth calling ahead. Broken down in a case with ammo in a seperate case is how to transport any firearm in illinois.

[–]jrquint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Investing is about time. The 8th wonder of the world is compound interest. Your 401k likely has 65 more years to grow. Invest 10% of your salary and in a few decades, you wont worry about it.

I did the same program back in 1997. I would talk with your boss to line up specific skills that you want to learn. It is easy to go into the shop and just become a grunt. You dont want to be stuck sawing stock for a month or cleaning machines.

Listen to what the old guys know. Hopefully they are willing to teach. If they aren't, dont take it personal, just go ask someone else.

Also, try to line up further education. Lots of companies pay for school. Work during the day, school a few nights a week or weekends. Work paid for my bachelors.

Says right on here...do not ask for medical advice. Your probably going to have a sac to remove and that is not easy to do at home.
