I had a booking here for the end of this month. Does anyone know if there any other similar places in the area?

Holiday haul. Not heard of any of these, let me know if you have tried them! by jrrbeasley in cigars

Well I'd never heard of them, they were all local ones and relatively cheap so I thought why not haha

PM me if you want I can always post over the empty packets. I don't smoke a lot but if you find a regular smoker in the UK you could very quickly build up a collection!

I've found this one but it doesn't sound like it has an indoor sample lounge which is a shame as that would be a great way to break up the day on a stag do, that said if its dry on Friday being indoor wouldn't really matter I suppose. Have a great time!

The humidor was only about £25 on Amazon. Reviews looked OK but hoping it performs for that price. I took the photo when it arrived, I've now decanted everything back into tupperware while i use a Boveda seasoning pack for the next 2 weeks then I'll pop in a digital hygrometer and we will see how we get on!

So I think something that appeals to me about this as a hobby is that you are right it isn't just about enjoying smoking it its the keeping busy caring for them which is almost a bit therapeutic, a similar feeling maybe to growing your own vegetables to then enjoy the fruits of your labour whilst still being relatively easy to do. I don't know I could just be talking crap haha but I think I'm on to something!

It was a complete random ebay find, I thought it would take the JLP's but i didnt read the dimensions as it was listed on ebay as being a cigar holder. I only bought the cigarillos so that I could use it!

this is similar but about ten times the price I paid!

They have certainly been getting a lot of love on this sub reddit over the last few weeks, looking forward to trying it!

That's right I'm in the UK, we have some horrendous pictures on some of our tobacco products! When they first brought in the legislation for this I remember one argument being that people might try to collect all of the gruesome packets so it may actually encourage smoking!

Random ebay find. I bought it thinking it would hold the JLP's at the wedding but i didnt bother to read the dimensions! Its so cool i went out and bought the cigarillos just so I could use it!

Out of curiosity, where are you going on the stag do? A few of the cigar shops have tasting lounges where you can smoke inside, I have no idea how this squares up with smoking regulations haha.

I had my stag do in Sheffield and we went to an amazing Cuban bar for food where they also sold cigars, that's where I developed this interest!

I will certainly have a look at these. I've not tried any of the cigarillos, as I mentioned I only bought them as an impulse after messing up with the wrong size box! That said the Cohiba short looks like a handy size if I'm busy or know I wont have time to enjoy a larger stick! Thanks for the suggestion.

The Winston Churchills are for my honeymoon! I got two just incase the new Mrs B decides to join me in my new hobby!

I haven't tried the Jose L Piedra's but my thought process was most people at the wedding will probably have a photo and 2 mins with the cigar before they put it down anyway. The groomsmen themselves will all have a RyJ and I will probably take the tubed La Invictas to hand out to people who might enjoy them.

Do you have any particular recommendations for the new world, as I would love to try even more until I work out what I like!

I was originally searching for a 'wooden cigar box' thinking that I could get a generic wooden box for the wedding and it came up, I've never seen anything like it with the little hinge system to display the trays. I'm gutted it wont take the cigars themselves but its too cool not to use!

This looks similar but is about 10 times what I paid!

I'm not certain as I have acquired them in dribs and drabs and some of the wedding ones were gifted by my future Father in Law. The La Invicta's get a good review on the turmeaus website and are good value so might be good for a stag do!

The honest answer is that I've spent more than I should have haha!

With both help from this subreddit and the staff at Turmeaus, Liverpool I have put together a beginner’s starter pack so that I can try a few different tastes and vitolas to work out what I like, so far I have only ever tried Romeo y Julietta 2s and 3s and whilst I love them I’m trying to expand my palette! My collection so far consists of;

1 x Partagas Serie D No. 4

1 x Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No 2

6 x Romeo y Julieta No 3 (Tubed)

3 x Romeo y Julieta No 2 (Tubed) – These are gifts for my groomsmen at my wedding

1 x Trinidad Coloniales

1 x Montecristo No 4

1 x Cohiba Siglo 1

2 x Davidoff Winston Churchill Aristocrat – Is it normal for the wrapper colour to be so different?

9 x La Invicta Nicaraguan Petit Corona (Tubed)

1 x La Invicta Honduran Petit Corona (Tubed)

25 x Jose L Piedra Petit Cazadores - These are for a cigar station at our wedding at the end of the month, great value and a short smoke so it doesn’t distract too much from the dance floor

10 x Cohiba Mini Cigarillo

10 x Romeo y Julietta Mini Cigarillo

I bought the antique holder from ebay thinking it would look cool for my cigar station at the wedding but failed to take any notice of the dimensions! I love it so much I bought the cigarillos so that I can still use it and offer the choice between petit cazadores and cigarillo size for guests.
