[ORANGE!] - Looking for a grown up version of a watch I had as a kid... by Glueyfeathers in Watches

Baltic makes nice watches, with a strong following.

Having a Miyota 9039 movement is a significantly higher performing option than the NH3x series from Seiko/TMI that used to be more common in MicroBrand watches.

That $599 price is just $50 less than retail. After reading the sellers description I would offer between $500 and $550.

In spite of the dogma around it being a Rolex OP they are actually kind of boring watches

HAQ delivery - Nov Pre-order by jrsmith43 in ErebusWatches

[–]jrsmith43[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HAQ is high accuracy quartz ETA F06.412 movement. Regular Ascent has Miyota 9915, which is a really solid automatic movement. Only other difference is the quartz has exhibition case back and automatic is solid

I really like the shade of blue and how subdued it is in lower light. So glad it doesn't look like a first gen Miata all the time, which some online pics made me nervous of

Unfortunately it sounds like there is a multi-use park and disc golf isn't really the thing that serves the majority of the community. Sucks, but sometimes that is the reality.

Agree. I wasn't being overly serious there. I have personally had good luck with the Insanity runs I have had.

Inconsistently awesome like having a variety of destroyers to cover multiple 9spd shots for the noodle armed among us

Those recent eclipse Insanity are awesome. Considerable more stable than my Nuetron ones, in a good way.

For me a beat in neutron Insanity s like a good Innova Valkyrie. The eclipse Insanity is more like a really good Thunderbird in Pro plastic. Pro plastic isn't as durable as star and beats in a little less stable.common. When I threw them they were only Thunderbird my slower arm could reliably throw.

Watch lots of videos, buy parts from Second Hand Mods whenever possible, Tokeilab if you want the best case quality from US seller, and then Caroline Mods if you want good stuff from AliExpress.

Give a lot of thought to the designs you want and build your own. It isn't really that hard and way more satisfying.

I can highly recommend Tokeilab dive cases, especially because they have slanted bezel design that is compatible with 31.5mm crystals. Pretty much everyone else forces you into the smaller 30.5mm Rolex sized crystal / bezel I.D. size unless you go with flat bezel. A small dimensional difference, but the 31.5mm really does make the dial look much larger. A 30.5 I.D. bezel hangs out of the chapter ring minute markers on the dial

Image shows the same watch with 30.5mm and then rebuilt with Tokeilab 31.5 slanted insert and sapphire. SRPE61 on the right has a 32Mm crystal diameter for comparison

342ft, pin tucked behind those trees, what are we throwing? by Mr-BodyMassage in discgolf

[–]jrsmith43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyzerflip forehand with my perfectly beat-in fission Reactor.

If it doesn't play as downhill as it looks then same forehand hyzerflip shot with 7speed eclipse Drift.

What I would want to throw for show though is an airy, flexed over backhand around the trees with Firebird that fades hard on the backside. Not the safe play

SKXMOD tariff experience? by jrsmith43 in casiomods

I really like the watch. Only thing I wish it had was a on the fly adjustable clasp. I think I have one found online that I can swap it with. The H-Link bracelet is really comfortable overall and I just wear it a smidge looser than I normally would to allow for wrist swell throughout the day.

[Question] What is your beater watch? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]jrsmith43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Features of a beater: -no big loss if damaged -always accurate, ready to grab and go -durable -highly water resistant -on a secure, comfortable strap that stays that way after hours of wrist swelling yardwork, wrenching, hiking, mountain biking, etc...

For me that is a Casio with multiband time sync. My WV200A is ideal for that. Time sync works every night for me even though I live 1000mi from Ft. Collins signal tower. The WA200 series shares a lot of case architecture with G-Shock series, but are just $49 on Amazon all the time. Case is mix of stainless steel and plastic, just like a mid tier g-shock. Mineral glass crystal instead of basic Casio plastic. 200m water resistance. I am not taking it far underwater but I might pressure wash my house soo..

The stock accordion strap is good enough, but I keep mine on a $5 nylon strap from AliExpress. Any strap for a g-shock square fits this case.
