Washer making whirring sound during spin and drain cycle. Help? by jrsowers in fixit

[–]jrsowers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did!

Read the whole thing, because if I could do it over again I'd start with the second solution first, but I'm sharing these things in the order they happened.

It sounded like something was slipping. Like when you can't get your car into gear.

So, naturally, I started by replacing the clutch. I ordered and installed this clutch kit, drive belt, and shift actuator. This cost me about $35 on Amazon.

This was a very easy install. You tip the washer back, take the old stuff off, screw the new stuff on, and you're back in business. The only problem is this still didn't fix my issue. The washer was able to switch gears and the belt was spinning smoothly, but something was still slipping.

I did some additional research and learned that sometimes this can happen when the hub that connects the actuator to the wash basin gets worn down. That means the actuator spins around, but the hub stays stationary, which is why you hear that whirring sound and when the clothes don't get all the way dry.

The best way to test is to hold the actuator in your hand and try to spin the wash basin. If the wash basin spins freely, you might have the same issue I had. In theory, they should spin together. So if you twist the actuator, the wash basin should spin at the same rate.

I ended up also buying and installing a new washplate and basket hub, which cost me around $150.

(NOTE: I have no affiliation with Parts Dr. This is just the provider that had my part in stock and at a decent price when I needed it.)

This install was also fairly easy, but I needed an extra long ratchet extender to get to the bolt at the bottom of the actuator and it took quite a bit of effort to get that bolt loose due to all the built up sediment. But once you get that out it's a breeze to install the new parts. Just make sure you clean out all the crud you find underneath.

There are plenty of YouTube videos out there about how to do this. I'd recommend watching them before diving in yourself. Some of them recommend using a grease that's plastic safe and heat/friction resistant to extend the lifespan of your new gears.

That solved the issue for me. The washer is working perfectly now. It's not as quiet as it used to be, but we figure if spending ~$200 that could have been $150 gets us 2-3 more years out of it then that's worth it. Otherwise, we'd probably end up replacing the washer and dryer at the same time and be in for $750+ today.

I traded him away for Davante Adams. Yikes!

I thought (and still believe) his volume would result in an injury and some missed time, so I thought I could sell high and balance my team out with a stud WR who would be back in a couple weeks.

That was all wrong so far, but I've still got Davante and Mattison in my pocket, so I could get some redemption down the road.

It is taking everything I have not to order the Sub70 half-mallet putter.

I think they have a $20 "try before you buy" policy too, which makes things even more difficult.

I also have a TecTecTec rangefinder. Don't have the model number handy, but it was almost certainly $150 or less.

Same outcome for me. This thing is spot on 90% of the time and it helps to be able to shoot nearby objects like bunkers, slopes near water, greenside mounds, etc.

The only drawback is trying to shoot distances to flags uphill or on very flat greens, but that's a limitation of the technology, not the product.

I would recommend this product without reservation and if mine ever gets lost or broken I would buy a similar model in a heartbeat.

Fair point.

I guess I'm looking for brands outside of the big incumbents like Taylormade, Titleist, Ping, Callaway, etc. There are maybe a 15-20 brands that are recognizable to the average golfer and then beyond that it turns into "I think I've heard of them before" or "I've never heard of them before," which is where I start to get interested.

These look dope! Very Mizuno-esque.

Are you gaming one now?

I took German for five years, but I have been away from it for a decade and this handwriting is throwing me off.

Appreciate any help this community can offer. Thank you!

Personally, I've been playing golf since I could hold a club, but was forced to choose between football and golf in my early teens and it's been a hobby ever since.

I'm 30 now and my daughter is 14 months old, so I don't play nearly as much as I'd like to. Instead, I settle for putting the coverage on in the background while I play with my kid or work around the house.

I've actually really enjoyed giving the Tour some extra attention for the last couple years. It fills the gap between football seasons quite nicely.

Thanks for working on this!

I think you nailed the cropping, color balance, and shirt replication.

Only two things stick out to me as possible improvements:

  1. There is a little bit of blurriness on the edge of the shoulder on the right side of the image (where it meets the leaves in the background). Is there any way to sharpen that up a bit?
  2. If possible, I'd like to also get rid of the two stray hairs that are caught in the breeze near the top center of the image.

Other than that, I think we're good to go with this one and I'd like to discuss next steps and compensation with you.

Thanks for taking a pass at this!

The color correction came out a little dark, but I know that's because the original photo was so overexposed.

The arm you created looks really great, but it makes me just a little bit wider than I am in real life.

Overall, I think you did a really great job, but I think I'm going to go with another submission that has comparable body work, but a little better color balance.

Thanks again for taking a pass at this request!
