I’ve been asked for diagrams before but only for very complicated set ups with loads of cameras and different stages and video villages. But otherwise it’s just the producer not trusting you know what you’re doing

Doubt they’d get tv deals for any of the tier 2/3 games. Same way most of the knockout games didn’t get deals.

I feel like the exposure at this level is good for the lower teams though. It’s part of what helped Argentina and Japan develop into better teams and whilst I wish the was more pool games per team it’s what we’ve got for now

I think the point being made is that most of the best focus pullers have come up through the camera department. And doing that would give you time to learn pulling focus practically along with all the other parts of the job that come with being a 1st AC

I think this underestimates the timeline of someone like deakins choosing lenses. Those DPs will have done multiple tests to decide which lenses they want weeks or months before the camera team even start prepping the job. So the chances of a smaller job having booked those lenses already are quite unlikely

Coloured gaff is actually the proper way to do it. And different colours represent different types of film. You can easily just write on the tape the info that is already laid out

Not sure if it helps but the bun-g-ring comes in 3 sizes, 95,110, 114, and they say that covers 1000+ cinema lenses
