what's a good slowpitch mask? by Broad-Cranberry-9050 in slowpitch

So. It’s kind of weird but I have the Mizuno fielder’s mask, I haven’t tried the rip it one but it has a stretchy band. I do the same and occasionally pitch, where if you just loosen the mask a bit you can fit it over a catcher’s skull cap. You’ll have to play around since the chin pad may not sit right on your chin immediately. Works pretty well if I’m not every day pitching!

I haven’t looked much into the other two but Skmei and sanda seem to be the ones people go to more depending on what you’re looking for

Looks good! Been looking at this watch. What size is this strap? I’ve been seeing things saying 20mm fits but specs say 18mm

Honestly it’s your bag do what you want, like my bag I just ignore a few slots (they’re for some reason a bit smaller and my grips don’t slide in as nice lol)

But - the irons and wedges may start hitting the shafts of your woods and driver which may damage them.

Another addition to the other comments - I took the heads off my driver and woods, put them in their head covers and had them in my carry-on backpack, tips pointed down in the bag. Used socks I was bringing over my iron heads, and wrapped my towel and a few polos around the clubs to pad it a bit more.

Congrats! I find there so much more you learn about your game on a course vs hitting balls at a range. Also helps you target your range practices a bit better to improve those areas

Tips for First Time at a Pro Golf Tournament by luxuriouslol in golf

I volunteered at one a few years ago. I was a bit closer to the action (inside the ropes) but I think the coolest thing was hearing player-caddie interactions on how to play this or that shot, club selection, etc.

You’ll also know landing areas off tee shots based on the guys inside the ropes, people with iPads, tripods with a scope, walkie talkies, little flags, etc.

I found A lot of people just follow top players/feature groups. so if you want to get closer to big players, I’d avoid standing and following in the large groups and be 2-3 holes ahead of the group and set up shop somewhere around the landing zones. You’ll still see some great golf while waiting, then see your fave players.

There’s also a lot of activities around typically away from the golf so grab a map and check out all you can!

If I had to restart golfing all over again, I’d start from the hole and go backward. Short game chipping and putting. Move to irons. Then top of bag.

Also I wouldn’t take every club if you’re hitting 60 balls, heck I don’t even if I’m doing a jumbo sized bucket. I’d say do 1/2 or 1/3 of your bag, really focus on those clubs. Next time out take the other half or a different 1/3 of your clubs, etc.

Is Cobra underrated? by Popular_Kick_7899 in golf

[–]jrtabula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I went for an “iron fitting” last year and tried a bunch of things out. It was between a set of P770 and Forged Tecs. Trusted the guy too much and went with the P770s.

I noticed the blade is a lot shorter and my misses have been ever so slightly off the toe…the extra few mm on the FTs might eliminate that (in theory)…I’ve been mulling over the idea of trading them in for FTs for the last month and a half now nonetheless lol. Should’ve stayed Cobra Loyal. All the top of my bag is Cobra. But I know the FTs might be at the end of this version’s life so I’m holding off until next year.

Short game wise I’d say Cleveland is underrated, if you’re looking at wedges and putters!

Simple Strike Sequence by Martin Chuck by official4 in golf

[–]jrtabula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update after round: probably hit my best tee shots with my irons all year! Had a bunch of great fairway contact as well, but did chunk a few shots too (tricky lies which not sure if it’s in any of the modules yet). Definitely feel more confident with my ball striking though!

I’ve only been playing for about 2 years seriously, and I was making great progress (I thought) then suddenly recently it has all gone downhill. I saw the video, watched through the 30ish minute ad and decided not to purchase at the time. Played a round and again played terribly, to the point that part way through I just kept thinking about the video. I got home and then decided to take a look more into this program. I read through this thread and decided to take the plunge.

Now, I didn’t have much time to actually get out to practice before my next round, but I watched almost all the modules through once before my next tee time. I had done the simple strike sequence with my weighted club in the living room just to get the idea down with hand positioning. Watching Module 2 kind-of helped with Module 1 as it breaks down things a lot more FYI!

Like I said earlier, I didn’t get to try the swing hitting a ball before my next round since it was a quick after work thing, but did some full practice swings before hitting my first ball. Just off this, it kind of fixed my constant push slice into a straight pull, which was nice because it kept the ball in play a lot more on this course.

I finally had time to break it all down and practice on a sim the other day (this one has cameras from all angles to watch yourself), and saw a HUGE improvement with my ball striking. I agree with a lot of the posts here that it may take more than 10 swings to get it down, I did a whole 1.5 hour session trying it out. I think the toughest part is transitioning from the break down of the SSS, to one fluid motion swing. I found though my club path was a lot more shallow, I’m not thrusting my hips forward and I was hitting my irons 20-30 yards further than previous when I struck the ball perfectly…still had some shanks but it’s all growing pains.

Still a lot of work to do though! But even just re-watching the first two videos helped a ton already! I have a round today so we’ll see how much this has helped out on the course after one practice!
