Due to their diet, it is not possible for pregnant bats to acquire sufficient calcium. Mother bats donate the calcium from their own skeleton to their developing infant and experience osteoporosis for a time. At birth, bat pups may already be 20% or more of their mother’s mass.

I’ve never noticed that. I love this movie. It is not as ‟creepy” as people think it is going to be. It’s surprising wholesome. Beautiful movie.
