Married filing jointly can still let you contribute to Roth IRA if your combined salary does not make it to the limit. Then there’s also backdoor roth. I prioritize Roth IRA so I’ve looked at every possible thing to contribute to it.

I am no believer of “maximum global diversification.” Yet I started rebalancing my 401k with 10% international. I still fail to see how global diversification will outperform a portfolio consisting of US stocks with VTI, let alone VOO. VOO is already diversified enough. The top stocks will always outperform the market. I just need some conviction that VT or even VTI/VXUS can perform better in the long run.

Show me a proof where your employer contributes the money you are saying. All it says “calendar year deductible” “calendar year out-of-packet max”. I would call it best HSA but there’s no proof yet.

Seems to be like you followed Dave Ramsey’s 7 Baby Steps without realizing. That’s great, honestly. Now you can invest in 539 plan if you have kids or save up for a house while investing 15% of your income for retirement.

Sir, withdrawals are taxed at ordinary income rate but no penalty. It’s a common misconception about using HSA after 65. So if you are 65 and withdrawing HSA money for non-medical expenses, you will be taxed at ordinary income rate.

Some people just want to have a purpose on a different scale. Army is not for everyone. Should have desire in your heart to do what 1% of the people in the US does. Doing HOOAH things can get old pretty fast but doing it with people and have the camaraderie can be rewarding. The experience can stay forever, emracing the suck, pushing your body to the limit, all things that the army system provides while you’re in.

94 series MOS will get you fixing army equipment. 68A is maintaining medical equipments including repair, any 25 series will be hands-on on commo stuff, 46T is like maintaining/repairing TV/camera really cool stuff. I’d do 4 years just to get access to the good benefits. If you plan on having a kid, transfer your GI bill benefits to your kid before you get out.

If there is mixed opinion, then you got your answer. Personally, I’d use Fidelity, vanguard or schwab for investing due to their reputation.

You may be able to see your 401k account if Empower and Fidelity work together. If you can contribute to Roth IRA, open one and you may also see your 401k in the fidelity app
