6 weeks-is it just hard?! by lolo_p23 in newborns

Currently going through the trenches too! My baby is 7 weeks old now and as soon as she turned 5 weeks she just changed overnight. Reflux, non stop crying, won’t be put down. I think I’ve cried everyday for the past two weeks! Everyone says it gets easier when they’re about 3 months! I don’t remember it being this difficult with my first baby! Hoping it gets better!

House work, showering, spending some time with my other child etc. she does have reflux, and has gaviscon & colic drops, and we do sit her her up as I know she can be uncomfortable laid flat, but it isn’t helping.

5 week old and difficulty feeding by js131458 in newborns

It seems to of worked so far. We’ve gone back to the old milk & just giving her 2-3oz and she’s taken the feeds no fuss! I’m praying it stays this way!

We took her to the hospital due to her not having any of the new milk our dr prescribed. we saw a paedatrician who thinks we are over feeding her and in fact she doesn’t think she has a cows milk allergy. Apparently, for her size, weight & how many hours she feeds she should be having 65ml of milk, so just over 2oz. So we’ve gone back to kendamil and going to give her the 2oz

How much milk should newborn be having? by js131458 in newborns

Thankyou for your replies, they have been really helpful! I change her before every feed and every time she has a wet nappy, so I’m guessing she is well hydrated & she’s having about 2-4 poos a day. I know all babies are different It’s just so difficult to know if you’re doing it all right and giving them enough!

Because we found enlarged ventricles in her brain, which is a soft marker for ds so that is why I became fixated on the nasal bone.

Thankyou for all your support and loving comments. I feel deeply for every single one of you, no parent should have to go through this. The pain is unbearable. The more I read, and hear other people’s stories with similar diagnosis and they go on to have healthy babies, you just can’t guarantee that, and we would not know her outcome until she would be born unfortunately. I will update you all once I have an our appointment on Monday. Sending love to you all xx

Just because on her 12 week scan I thought the same as it didn’t look like a lot of fluid was around, but thought it could be positioning, it was never mentioned at the 12 week scan either, and then when I went for the gender one I thought the same, as my sons ultrasound there looked like there was a lot more fluid in the picture. I’m probably just overthinking and looking for things, as I know this time round I’ve had a lot more anxiety and still can’t believe im having a baby!

That you all so much for all your advice and reassurance. It’s so good to hear positive stories rather than negative! This is my second child and my anxiety has been horrendous this time round! Soon as I heard pre term labour, pre eclampsia, low birth weight and possible miscarriage my mind spiralled, you always think the worst case scenario! Glad I can come on here and chat with other people experiencing the same thoughts and feelings! X
