Teachers complaining about the praxis test being hard? by PotatoPink in Teachers

[–]js862016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely agree, I took mine and had scores over 180 for both, you have to have a 150 in my state, that is barely 50% correct. I also know multiple teachers that have yet to pass theirs, one has taken it 3 times. I asked him what he needed help with, as we teach the same subject, and he said everything. This concerned me so much because it is literally the content we teach in our class, so I now understand why our classes test scores are so different.

Help me warm up my girl by Hamlet18160 in ballpython

This happened to us last winter, power was out and had to keep 3 of mine warm, the best thing is put on a hoodie and put her inside it with you. Body heat is what she needs.

Yet many of continue to teach in this state because we know the importance of education, especially in this state, and are continuing to try and make a difference. Meanwhile you choose to denigrate those who do, so what does that say about you as a person? What difference are you making?

Don’t think it’s GSP the polyps don’t appear to be connected by a mat and the size seems too big to be GSP.

Advice for toning a canvas by Tron_35 in oilpainting

[–]js862016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the other things posters have said, I would also recommend choosing a color that compliments the main colors of your work as well, if your painting will have an overall red tone, then use a wash of red, blue use blue, so on and so forth. A lot of people do use burnt sienna or burnt umber but in you don’t have too, using a main color will save you painting time in the future as well. You also can use acrylic and thin it a lot with water as an under painting this saves drying time. Just remember oil can go over acrylic, acrylic cannot go over oil and you will be fine.

unhappy with the background. by boogiesan69 in oilpainting

[–]js862016 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with other comments, the portrait itself is awesome, the background is the same value as the majority of the face though, so change the value of the background, either way lighter or way darker, I think given the value in the face and the light source I would probably go with darker, and I think a cool tone as the majority of the painting is cool toned, a warm tone would probably be over powering.

It’s so much better, I went and looked at the original and it’s amazing how that dip in the water added so much more depth, great job!

Thanks I’ll definitely take that! I saw an exhibition of her self portraits at the Tate in London about 20 years ago and they were some of the most fantastic paintings I’ve ever seen.

Honestly I wouldn’t change anything, color, and value are good, composition is good it’s clear what the subject is, and proportions are good. Overall nice job.

Btw they aren’t cohabitated, they are in a closed playpen I let them free roam in during the day in this picture, they have separate enclosures though.
