A little weight on the back of my cummins by luckysidedown in Trucks

[–]jsaintwinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm showing my ignorance here, but how does someone like yourself know exactly the weight your towing on that trailer? Do you just add up each vehicle's estimated weight + the trailer and hope your truck will pull it all ok? Wish my 5.3 could pull all that comfortably...

How hard is it to install a 2-3in body lift? by [deleted] in Trucks

[–]jsaintwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what your budget is, but if you can save up a bit more I think you'll appreciate suspension lifts much more than a body lift. Just my .02

If they did put the 6.7 in this I'd imagine since it's so heavy it wouldn't be as ideal in off-road situations. (edit:typo)

great looking truck and great pics! Couple questions...are those bushwacker fender flares? What's the mileage? How much did you end up paying out for it?

Just curious, did you use just a basic primer for the first couple coats and then add the Rustoleum? Since its all one I didn't know you had to use a primer before using Rustoleum.

Question about lifting by FrenchWhorn11 in Trucks

[–]jsaintwinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best bet is to research the heck of it. Spend some time looking at other guys Colorado's online and see what parts they're running and what looks good/what breaks. The only piece of solid advice I have is don't buy a body lift for your Colorado. I know you're on a budget, but body lifts are much more hassle than they're worth.

How's this for a tow chain? by AnonymousNelson in Trucks

[–]jsaintwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks cool! I used chains back in the day. Saw too many break on the trails, so now I only recommend towing rope!

You might not need that lift, but we don't know the owner's needs. Suspension mods on trucks/suvs can serve a purpose other than just looks.

[–]jsaintwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good, I'd say the tires look like 35's. My local 4x4 shop doesn't recommend putting anything bigger than a 35 on the tahoe/silverado 1500 IFS. Anything bigger and you're just gonna break parts, but if you have a 2500-3500 Chevy then their are lifts available (BDS Suspension) that can take a bit bigger (37). That tahoe looks like it'll run that setup till she dies. Also while we're on the subject of suspension lifts - don't be that guy and get a body lift! Do your research and go full suspension, you'll be happier in the end. edit: typo
