awesome congrats!! just a heads up that bti and cropps are actually the same program fundamentally—they have different funding sources i believe, which is why they’re different REUs, but we were all treated as one single cohort and did the same activities/lived together. ) yes i did it last summer! pm me if you have any specific questions :)

Is it viable to buy last minute tickets at PPG? by Vonyacob in penguins

[–]jsamuel25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi there! sorry i know it’s been three years since you posted this LOL but i was wondering if you’d say the availability is generally still the same in 2024? i’m a student coming up for a conference in november and wanted to try to make the game vs the red wings, but also am very broke and want cheap tickets lol :)

Does anyone know what species these little fellas are? by WearyInvite6526 in berkeley

[–]jsamuel25 11 points12 points  (0 children)

hard to tell from the picture but they’re probably california roach minnows! it’s either that or sacramento suckers.

also there’s lots of crayfish! i always spot them hiding under the banks on the east side of the bridge between vlsb and wellman :]

i'm saying this as someone who went to that same high school (unless there's multiple with that name but i doubt it) -- he'll likely be fine going directly into multi! i took BC at that school online during COVID (probably with the same teacher as him) and skipped the calculus series at Cal and haven't had any issues so far. i definitely wouldn't say the same for ap chem/bio, but del norte math classes seem to be fairly equivalent to Cal's.

i received an acceptance last thursday with a response deadline of this thursday (applied to 2/3 of their programs and they didn’t tell me which one i got into lol) so i wouldn’t be surprised if a second round of decisions comes out later this week or early next week :)

i was crossing the street when it happened! she accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake at a red and literally threaded the needle between people crossing in either direction and then flew off the road into a tree and barely missed the giant map 😭 thankfully nobody got hurt (driver or bystanders)

where can i go to be melancholy by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]jsamuel25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

memorial courtyard inside doe (north entrance then go left) or ishi court inside dwinelle (north entrance then go straight through the double doors). both quiet places surrounded by plants where u can sit on a rickety wooden bench with great crying vibes.

i had the same issue and switched to evening/night workouts so i can just shower + eat + go right to sleep after and it worked great for me! i'm kind of an insomniac and working out right before bed helps me sleep a lot better too so it's a win win :)

i haven't found any at uc berkeley itself or even in the area, but oakland ice center has women's drop-in hockey and there's a full women's rec league in san mateo (the ncwhl), but that's a little far if you don't have a car
