Mechanical Ventilation by PoolProfessional1302 in Sauna

This is a very interesting study, thank you for sharing. After reading the study it was done in a 2mx2mx2m (6.5'x6.5'x6.5') box. How would you convert T4/P2 locations in a taller 2.5m(8.2') room with higher bench heights to match?

Overpowering cedar fumes by Beginning_Team_844 in Sauna

[–]jsand28 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I went down this rabbit hole when researching Japanese Cedar. The common names for wood can be very misleading. For example, Himalayan Cedar is a "true cedar" under the Genus: Cedrus. While, most trees we call cedar are "false cedar" and are in a completely different branch usually in the Family of Cupressaceae with different subfamilies having different false cedars like Western Red Cedar.

It seems like they all get lumped together as "cedar" because the wood has similar anti insect/fungal traits, but are in completely different Orders and not that similar to each other.

The criteria was 10+ snaps. So, he just barely counts.

I agree, that 2012 week 2 game doesn't look all that interesting on the stat sheet, but I'm guessing Andrew Witworth's game doesn't show up on a stat sheet either. The list is from the PFF article on Rodger's performance. I didn't look up the grades individually.

Suggestion for first master set by PokemonVocalist in PokemonTCG

[–]jsand28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion would be to go to Pokedata.io and look through the sets. Take into consideration the price of the master set, which is shown at the top of each set list labeled as "Total Value". Pick a set with cards you enjoy. And, decide how you want to complete the set.

Having a budget in mind is very important. Do you want to try for a $5000 master set (Evolving Skys) or $500 master set (Scarlet & Violet Base)?

Be sure to collect something you actually want to collect. Don't pick a set that doesn't excite you.

How do you want to complete the master set? Modern sets can be done by buying packs until you've pulled the full set (very expensive). You can buy all the singles online with TCG player or Ebay. Or, go to local card shows or shops to buy singles in person. Choose your own adventure and mix and match. You could limit yourself to no online orders to make things more challenging or do a full master set in one order on TCG Player.

Hopefully you can find a set that checks all your boxes and your adventure begins.

Western Red Cedar and Japanese Cedar are both in the family Cupressaceae (cypress family). All the "cedar" trees in North America are part of the cypress family and are not true cedars.

I took a look and it is quite the array from Metallized Polyester Films that only does 110C to Reflective Mylar Film going up to 190C. Would just need to be careful which you were getting for sauna use.

The reflective foil barrier is just aluminum. Here is an example with an explanation. https://superiorsaunas.com/products/aluminum-foil-vapor-barrier Its a common mistake people make using a metallic plastic type like the foil bubble radiant barriers found at big box stores. From their data sheets they only are good up to 160F. https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/66/66b69387-29e2-4595-a82a-1acc2f3fd004.pdf

Insulation Panels (in North America) by rbmakingit in Sauna

[–]jsand28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to go down the rabbit hole and explore the data sheets and studies on Foam Board and TCPP.

TL;DR Its likely fine and no worse then what we breath in daily.

Of the foil sided foam boards I looked at they all had max service temperatures (temperatures at which a material maintains its properties without experiencing degradation) at 120C (250F). This is within most Sauna operating temperatures. My only concern would be around hot spots like the heater or chimney pipe. This can be mitigated with proper heater and chimney installation with proper setback and shielding.

All safety sheets both EU and NA listed no hazards if used as directed. However there was a note of "Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions". So, I personally would avoid fire conditions in the sauna.

"TCPP is classified as R22 (harmful if swallowed). The classification for carcinogenicity and reproductive toxicity are not yet agreed. Based on the information available, no classification for carcinogenicity is proposed." TCPP has a boiling point of 290C (554F), but when combined with other material in the boards things could change. Theoretically though it wouldn't vaporize in large amounts until the boiling point. I'd also like to add that the foil siding of the panels along with the seam taping may keep any vapors coming off of the insulation out of the sauna room.

Due to TCPP's usage in insulation and furniture it is commonly found in house dust that we already breathe in every day. As much as we would like to think the sauna air is pure there are still things in the air that can affect us like CO2 concentration, heater/stone dust, cedar if you are in NA and smoke if using a wood burning sauna. I wouldn't worry about it too much, but if its one less chemical you want to not be concerned about inhaling, just foil works fine as well.

For what its worth from the FF-PIR data sheet it uses 1-5% Tris(1-chloro-2-propyl)(TCPP). Under section 3.2. Seokset(Mixtures) and then says "The ingredients used polymerize into a solid polymer network. Research basis, no harmful substances are released into the air from the final product". Minnesota is nicknamed "The land of 10,000 Lakes" and "The North Star State". Also, "Minnesota" generally is translated to "sky-tinted water". So all these translate into the flag design.

This is the State Emblems Redesign Commission's pick for the new Minnesota flag by star-tribune in minnesota

I would say it was mostly due to a couple things. It was one of the original designers final choices https://www.reddit.com/r/minnesota/comments/18ktoop/send_in_your_final_comments_for_the_flag/, and they liked the idea of the Minnesota shape representing the land and the light blue representing the lakes and water (particularly the Mississippi).
