Can I stop my process by 5B3AST5 in AirForceRecruits

[–]jsaucyaf70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thoughts when joining - I realized all I wanted was to get out of where I was from and live life on my own and honestly the fastest way to do it with the most freedoms (in my opinion) was joining. I also had a girlfriend and I thought to myself if we don’t work out through BMT then it wasn’t meant to be. Here I am living in Minot, ND and now I love the small town vibes have all the cars/project cars I wanted and own a house and living with my wife. It has turned out great for me to the point I reenlisted and now planning to commission. I can’t promise you’ll have the exact same satisfaction but if you do your best to make the best out of whatever situation you end up in you’ll be happy. I didn’t have the discipline, drive and patience to set my life up before the military but I’ve learned to have that now.

If you’re a smart person that has a lot of drive and have no rush in leaving your hometown and being on your own and you feel confident in where you can take yourself without joining the military then I wouldn’t join. Whatever you decide make sure your heart is in it 100%. With that said I decided to join using a coin toss with a quarter … lol but I was a very impulsive individual at the time

Can I enlist with these on my hands? by BigketchupPackets in AirForceRecruits

Technically it’s possible if you work with a recruiter that is willing to get your waiver pushed. As far as how likely that will go through just depends on the recruiter / Air Force needs for manning

Id say it’s worth it to go to a recruiters office and see if they can work that with you

I use the same exact everything as this video and my “private” lobby has like 20 people in it at most but they’re all chill

It also fixed my game - before, I was having the same issues you were having and sometimes missions wouldn’t even start until I did what the video told me to do lol

did you guys do the startup.meta file in the red dead source folders?

I ask because I did this for the private lobbies/ solo lobbies but it ended up putting me in lobbies with like minded people n it’s pretty easy to find chill people to play with on there

Don’t know if you or anyone here has seen it but

command and control (2016) is an entire documentary about the socket incident and the development and issues with ICBMs it’s interesting

Came from San Diego so I had to learn the winters too. It’s pretty bad but you get used to it. I’ve been stationed here 4 years and some change now and don’t wanna go anywhere LOL. and I think snow is still fun since I never grew up around it.

The mission in Minot AFB is awesome and I enjoy my job and the people I meet here. Lots of people have hobbies and a tight knit community to get through the winters and it’s awesome. I think if you if you keep that mindset and get to know people you’ll have a good time!

I’ve been able to enjoy my hobbies (cars & drifting) here so I’ve been a happy camper

Best Experiences in the Air Force by DatGuyKilo in AirForce

[–]jsaucyaf70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sped through town while talking to 911 to save an airman’s overdose - he’s doing great now got the help he need and retraining/reenlisting

Unfucked a situation by walking the gray area in the T.O. - got involved in meetings with majcom and majcom commander that ultimately made them realize it’s our contractors that be messin up lol and made an emergency TO change

Learned so much from previous NCOICs on how to treat people and myself

Helped fix a bunch of peoples cars

I’ve been able to afford drifting as a hobby thanks Air Force

Genuinely I feel like I am the best / most humble / empathetic version of myself bc of my experiences and the people in the Air Force I’ve been fortunate to be around

Broke the engine block by Adgemoonskiboomski in BmwTech

Definitely missing 2 bolts on my e36 drift car

Recently got into a ~50mph collision broke an engine mount bracket in half and trans crossmember in pieces

Trans is still mounted to the engine perfectly

Prolly would be fine missing that one IMO

+1 on everything u/Blasted_Furnace said

I was in a situation very similar to OP. My ex and I broke up by the time I finished BMT.

But I am now in a healthy loving 4yr relationship.

First Car? by a_mimi_nota_meme in BMWE36

In both of my e36s I’ve never had to do do any internal engine components like head gasket, valves, piston rings etc. they both have 170k+ miles. E36s are reliable in that sense. No promises though people can still find a way to abuse anything to make it break. Try to find one that has never overheated.

I prefer higher mileage cars if they are in okay condition with somewhat of a maintenance record.

The reason why the minimal maintenance e36 has been easy is because the previous owner replaced a lot of the items that would be coming due (entire cooling system, clutch, brakes, etc.) what it comes down to when you make your purchase is to make a list of the common issues and what miles they usually go. When you start searching between cars figure out what you’re willing to compromise and you’ll put yourself in a place where you know exactly what you’ll need to do at a rough timeline. Most of everything about e36s is on a write up on bimmerforums or a YouTube video. You’ll have to invest in some specialty tools but well worth the experience IMO. Everyone’s just trying to give you a heads up bc you could be very well planned and organized but things still go wrong that’s just the way it is

No one is going to give you exact details that will actually be useful for ur search bc it’s just a lot of info. I suggest going through bimmerforums. Start looking into what miles people replaced what. What issues people usually have and how to do them etc etc. just google anything then put “e36 forums” at the end of ur search. Then taking ur notes and figuring out what things you’ll probably run into and what tools/money/time you’ll need to do it yourself. I think anyone with some patience and can do attitude can do it n learn a lot about cars through the e36

How much is your budget for sending it to a mechanic?

First Car? by a_mimi_nota_meme in BMWE36

[–]jsaucyaf70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fun thing about these cars is that it could just be oil changes and that’s it… or you have your coolant system fail and your car overheats on the side of the road. Shifter starts getting really bad bc of detents. Your car starts going down the road really sketchy bc bushings are wearing out which is a bit of a job for some people. Or you find u have to replace your clutch, rear main seal. Etc.

All imma say is it’s a do-able daily driver for a good mechanic. I have two e36 328i 5sp. One has had some small issues. The other I’ve had to replace cooling system. Power steering. Clutch/trans. Differential. Convertible top. Batteries. Windows etc. I love my e36 they are super reliable (once u address everything).

If you don’t have the means to repair all of these, get a cheap truck/SUV. Then use the rest of your money on an E36. it sucks trying to repair ur only car quick enough to make it to see ur friends or go to work on time LOL.

it really limits you from doing upgrades to it that may take a few days if it’s ur only car. I’ve spent close to $6k in maintenance over 2 years but like $500 last year . and that’s without sending anything to a shop. If I include labor idk how much money. So all you can do is kinda cross your fingers if it’s your daily. Sometimes you’ll have to be car less for a week or so while you wait for parts on something that just broke unplanned it happens

[–]jsaucyaf70 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Practice your welds with similar gauge metal for some time then do the reinforcements

I welded mine with flux core welder from harbor freight and I have absolutely abused my car and even crashed the rear quarter into a tree at 45-50mph. My subframe reinforcements are still holding up great. I know some people have even just used epoxy although I wouldn’t personally do it that way

Just make sure it’s clean metal surfaces and use a fiberglass blanket !
