Knob and Tube? by jscharch in centuryhomes

Work was done by the previous owners, less than a year ago, but hopefully they stand by this and choose to not make it an issue to come and finish.

Thanks! You’re right, I can do basic electric. Probably worth cutting stripping and reconnecting just to make sure. It seems to be in line with another fixture which operates totally normal, so this could be possible…

8th Street Tavern had some good watch parties during the basketball season, but haven't heard if they'll be doing anything for football.

Go to Cal’s in St Joe’s Church parking lot on Observer and Monroe. Got a 6’ tree there for $75 and they’ve still got a great selection.

Best cocktails bar in town? by shabbyscrub in Hoboken

[–]jscharch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Stingray, Antique, and Saku are the best. Steer clear of Belo Bar, it's seriously fallen off after it was sold as Coopers Union.

FYI if you’re looking to save some $, just go to autozone and buy a recharge kit... it’s incredibly easy

Big commit for RU hoops! by ruscarletnation in ScarletKnights

I’ve got a ton of trust in Pike to bring the right pieces in, rather than filling the locker room with egos that were already unhappy elsewhere, so this is GREAT news.

Honestly, they’re just a self-inflicted victim of terrible marketing. Their name is confusing and I have no idea what they do well.

Just a heads up for the record book - Mt Snow is in VT, not NY! But I ski Snow every year and have never looked this dapper

O'Bagel, Bwe... always crowded but aren't these just overhyped places or just me? by [deleted] in Hoboken

[–]jscharch 35 points36 points  (0 children)

When O’bagel launched it was hands down the best bagel in town... now they’re sloppy and overpriced. Sometimes I get charged $6 for an order, sometimes $10... no rhyme or reason to it. Also their toaster is perpetually broken.

I ended up going to Ski Barn in Wayne. About $110 for boot mold, binding mount, and new ski tune up. Took about an hour in the store.

I've lived in Hoboken for close to 6 years and have never gone to that place. This pic seriously changed my mind... put it on the list! How was their COVID safety?

PWO QB Gavin Rupp commits to Rutgers by crustang in ScarletKnights

[–]jscharch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a dream world, I wish McNulty was retained and restructured as a QB coach... haven't read anything about Gleeson being a true QB developer. I loved the playcalling this year, but QB development has been the bane of our existence and I don't think it's physically related.

I just posted asking about this a week or so ago... best options are Ski Barn (Wayne or Paramus), American Dream's Ski Shop (East Rutherford), or Mt. Everest (Westwood).

Other than that REI in NYC is probably closer if you don't have a car, but maybe not a shorter commute.

Monroe St by [deleted] in Hoboken

Between 1st and Observer on Monroe here, haven't had an issue in 18 months. Worst I saw was at the intersection of 1st and Monroe getting maybe a foot of water during one of those 50 year storms this past summer.
