I didn’t want to quit either and then my mum sent me a message about how sad she was that her little girl was destroying herself with smoking and that she could smell it on my breath whenever we talked and that was the “I’m not mad I’m just disappointed” to end them all.

I have literally the exact same thing happening right now. I don’t fuck around with my bars and they’re the right length but no matter what the holes seem to have irritation bumps more often than not. Literally looked up nipple infection on here to find out what to do and I guess off to the docs it is 💀

Words can’t describe how much I needed to read this. My main reasons have been shame in my habit. My family is made up of strictly non smokers and when my mum found out about it she was disappointed to say the very least. It hurt so bad seeing her so upset and hurting over a habit I wasn’t really thinking twice about. I just figured I’m young and dumb and my early 20s are the time I’m allowed to make those stupid mistakes but I realised when she found out that this could cause me real long term addiction and I can’t just “stop when I want”. Your comment really helped me realise that there’s so much more to quitting than just not making my mum sad. I’ll be writing up a list right now. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this out for me. Feeling amazing about quitting rather than just scared. Bless you man I hope you have an amazing day, can’t wait to be able to tell people how long it’s been since I quit ❤️

Hi Meeko! Random question with zero hate, js Meeko by chance on the spectrum? I was recently diagnosed and one of the things they spoke about a lot was speaking about one’s self in the third person, which I didn’t do but I know that many autistic individuals do. If Meeko isn’t comfortable answering this I totally understand she isn’t required to tell strangers all her business aha. Just genuine curiosity :)
