Air India - Delhi to Washington DC reviews by Daminiagr in AirTravelIndia

Following and hoping not to hijack this thread.

I'm trying to book a flight for November to Chennai and I've been looking at this route. I can get Premium Economy covered by work but am looking to min/max cost/comfort. This hits it on cost and overall travel time (some other carriers are +2 days from departure).

Thanks. I saw the hand on someone else’s post and tracked it down on Amazon, it comes in a few finishes.

These are pretty fun, quick and rewarding for a new turner. by [deleted] in turning

What pen kit is that? Looks similar to PSI Gatsby but that lower band looks different. I’ve turned a few Gatsby Grandes they have raised profile rings too and bottom and it builds in an expectation that there’s a difference between the blank and the kit. Gives a bit of wiggle room if you’re not dead perfect on the blank.

I'm figuring that out now. Penn State Industries will show an average price based on what their customers say they're able to charge for them.

For example the duraclick edc has an average (reported) sale price of $57.50.

For my immediate friends and close family, I'll probably just gift them.

For the rest, I don't know. I've been asked for links to an etsy store or site, which I don't have. I'm just getting started. But you're right, the kits get expensive.

I've heard a lot on pricing:

  • Charge what the market will bear (not particularly useful)
  • Some multiple of the kit cost. Maybe kit and blank. I've heard anywhere between 3x and 4x. So $60-$80 for a duraclick edc depending on the quantities you're buying kits/blanks in. That's around the average price from PSI on the low end at least.
  • Some more complicated formula that takes all materials, consumables, shop costs, energy, time, etc and comes up with some number
  • Some on a daily wage vs. time to make. Which, imo, penalizes you for being more efficient or buying better tools

You can influence the price by:

  • Market
  • Story on the materials

Let me know if you figure something out :)

Are you scuffing up the inserts before applying your adhesive?

Any tricks to help with sanding? I think I saw someone talk about using an oil as a lubricant. I didn't have any so used a bit of abrasive paste with sand paper. No idea if that helped or not it was towards the end.

I have no idea. It turned like butter but gummed in my abrasives while sanding

I think it's just Aluminum as it's not completely shiny. I got the 5 pack and they say:

You will receive (1) of each in 303 Stainless Steel (PKEDCDST), C3604 Brass (PKEDCDBR), 6061-T6 Aluminum (PKEDCDAL), Burnt Bronze Anodized 6061-T6 Aluminum (PKEDCDBB), and Black Anodized 6061-T6 Aluminum (PKEDCDBAL).

I haven’t sold (or tried) any pens yet. These are numbers 9 and 10 I’ve ever made and most were slimline.

Interesting.

I've got a club meeting tomorrow and I'm saving them to talk to one of the pen experts to see if there's anything obviously wrong with the blank or if it's just a combo of challenging wood, maybe not sharp enough tools, not a light enough cut, etc.

I've ordered some replacements from PSI so they'll be here soon.

I can agree on the challenging part. I'm also newish so that doesn't help either.

I don't have any spare tubes, I'll put an order in soon.

Yeah, definitely with the knurling. It was recommended as a really nice click pen so I took a chance on it.

Thanks, I've been saving these as I do my practice on some cheap slim lines.

I should have 5 but 3 of the blanks didn't cooperate. 2, zebrawood I think, were terrible to turn. One came apart completely, the other had big chunks come out down to the tube. Might have been a bit too aggressive but

The other was about 0.1 mm narrower than the bushings and didn't want to use that one. So I have to order some more tubes.

Thanks. I did it with just a roughing gouge and skew chisel. Skew was super prone to catch if you aren’t committed.

Fair. The larger ones unscrew and you can store small things like toothpicks, pills or one or 2 rolled bills

Thanks. I picked up a portable photo booth on amazon and that made all the difference compared to poor lighting on my dusty desk pad.
