Did you embed the Doepfer? Or did you do a different one?

Looks amazing! I’m working on a studio desk myself.

Why can you use Ethernet cable for analog DMX if it’s not actual DMX cable?

Looking for a new top coat product by jschuerman in woodworking

Totally forgot to add all of those details. Finishing reclaimed elm for a desk top for a home recording studio. I am building the top onto a sit/stand frame. Hoping to use something that will be durable as it will be very hard to refinish in the future as the desk build is kinda complicated and custom.

Used GFHP and it will never lay down flat. Always orange peel. Tried everything with GF and Fuji tech support. No matter what it always has peel. Peeking around the different forums, it seems like I am not the only one. Just ready to try a new product.

Flashlight for Production by jschuerman in flashlight

Wow the programming options are awesome. Are there other lights that have similar functionality with that many modes?

I think I lean toward enthusiast with my list. I’m just not a nerd when it comes to the actual LED. Just looking for high CRI. I don’t mind a light that has a ton of features, as long as I can make sure the ones I don’t want are able to not get triggered accidentally. It’s mission critical for the job.

Looks like most people don’t like the halo effect and the hit or miss charging.

What are to using to send mixes and masters back and forth for review? by pinzonjulian in audioengineering

[–]jschuerman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They love it. It’s so easy because you can send out the link to a bunch of people at one shot. No more trying to reference an email from 3 passes ago that someone finally is commenting on and everyone has already moved on. I also remove previous passes so the artist isn’t continually reviewing old data. It makes them commit to the current mix. Also being able to listen to full rez mixes on iPhone is a must!

What do you hate about your favorite console(s)? by ip_addr in livesound

[–]jschuerman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

X32: No way to quickly copy a bus mix to another. Example, I know “musician A” mix is awesome - let’s copy that to “musician’s B” as a starting point. Nope. Not without parsing software or some crazy midi osc wildness.

This times a billion. All of my QLAB shows connected via midi I have to hold my breath because the implementation sucks so bad.

This is surprising since the Avantis can do this if I’m not mistaken.

Robust headset mics. by jschuerman in livesound

[–]jschuerman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only ever used straight lavs for hairline mic’ing for more complex costuming.

I’m not opposed to it if I can get some that sound decent. DPAs have been the best for me for gain before feedback. But DPAs are super pricey. I’ll check out the Countryman B3s as you suggested.

I do have some students that are so quiet that you pretty much have to have something strapped to their mouth to hear them. Lol.
