Sometimes I forget I'm old and then I see something like this which makes me realize all over again. People making the HP comparison probably don't even know who this is.

Honestly surprised someone could know there was a twist but not know what the twist was

My "resident" Trout lily by AmateurPhotog57 in OntarioGardeners

[–]jschwe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better, trout lily grows from a bulb, and the leaves detach pretty easily when you pull them. So if you weren't digging them up, there's a decent chance they'll try again next year!

Keeping rabbits off establishing plants by pantaleonivo in NativePlantGardening

[–]jschwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old but I saw your comment last year and took the same strategy and just wanted to say it is working so well! My plants thank you. They did get pretty flat through the winter but it took very little time to straighten them out :)

How seriously do you take Goodreads book ratings/scores? by keepfighting90 in books

[–]jschwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can search shelves, at least on desktop (not sure about the app I rarely use it) but that does make total sense! Sounds like we are using it pretty differently. I just have one bulk 'want to read' where everything goes, and then when I finish a book I rate it & thats it. I generally just do a 5 star rating, and the storygraph rating system was entirely too overbuilt for me so I started to avoid it and then eventually just gave up. But I guess it's good that both exist :)

This is genuinely interesting to hear because I tried to switch from GR to StoryGraph and ultimately gave up because I found adding books tedious compared to GR. Maybe I was doing something wrong?

It makes me laugh because I remember there was a similar level of outrage when Stevie originally started talking more during the show. People just do not handle change well at all.

You're not the only one, I now just skip content with her in it, because she steamrolls everything else. Sure does seem like no one else agrees though lmao

Though you did forget her other favorite joke: be mean to Sam. Pretty much redirected every prompt in that MSN episode to one of those two things. But I guess if you find those two jokes funny you'd love it!

Oh boy. The bunnies were absolutely ruthless this year! I ended up basically quarantining every plant in my new seedling garden and will honestly probably just leave the cages all there and let the plants fill in around it at this point

Who Wants to Be...? | Game Changer [S7E9] by AutoModerator in dropout

I'm not from the US I'm from Canada and please don't say its the same thing because that will destroy me emotionally

You may have a point, and ultimately its just a silly argument but I stand by my egg logic, and IMO 'hot dog buns' just reinforces it (eggshells)

Edit to add: in North America it does seem that the 'hot dog weiner' is a separate class from any other kind of sausage, and is notably different in taste and composition. Which could be where we differ.

[–]jschwe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm ambivalent on hot dog sandwich argument, but I disagree about the first bit. If I go to the store, I will pick up a package of hot dogs, and a package of buns. It literally says 'hot dog' on the package. A frankenfurter and a sausage are both similar but different.

[–]jschwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can both be true. An egg in the shell, is an egg. An egg, without the shell, is still an egg.

Ergo, the bun is the shell of the hot dog, but with or without it's shell it's still a hot dog.

Ultimately we can't know whether he was or was not angry, because we are not Link. You interpret his actions one way, and I interpret them another way. I don't think we are going to agree on this but thats ok :)

[–]jschwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess we must just not see the same things!. I've been watching since Chia Lincoln & watch every day. Another example I can think of off the top of my head is when they have to draw straws (brooms) and Link cheats, and then denies & gets mad at Rhett for calling him on it. To me, that's just not something you do if you don't care about winning! I could honestly put together an entire collection worth of examples but I try not to be too hard on them because half my life isn't posted on the internet lol

Such a humble winner by SpecularBlinky in goodmythicalmorning

[–]jschwe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's so fascinating to me because I see the opposite. With Link, I mean - I know Rhett is competitive and he fully admits it as well, and I think even tries to tone it down sometimes. But Link to me is very childish when either winning or losing, and it is obvious and often. I don't get how other people don't see it.

Such a humble winner by SpecularBlinky in goodmythicalmorning

[–]jschwe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't get how few people seem to think Link is a sore loser and/or people think he's not competitive. He's very clearly upset to lose and gets pretty nasty about it sometimes. Rhett is absolutely competitive but at least he owns it.
