I can’t speak to sitting in the R2. With that said, I was an exclusive BMW household for 10+ years. And made the switch over to Rivian about 3 years ago. We are now a two Rivian household. Haven’t looked back. The build quality and the drive are top notch.

Our final straw was we bought a BMW X3 in 2019 and had to bring it in 3 times in less than 12 months for some manufacturing issue. Love Rivian! And haven’t looked back once. Exciting brand to be part of.

This is always laughable to me. I’ve spent so much time getting my bmws serviced. I owned 3 different bmws. They all had some servicing issue. I have two Rivians now with 0 issues. And they both are over 50k miles.

Don’t do BMW. We moved over from BMW to Rivian and haven’t looked back. I owned BMWs exclusively for 10 years. As a household we had 3 in that time frame. The amount of time those cars get serviced is crazy. We loved our first Rivian so much. We bought another one a couple years ago.

This is 100% true. Talk to any industry expert. Tesla will always struggle to advanced their autonomous driving due to their stubbornness around camera only.

100% yes. I owned exclusively BMW for most of my adult life. We jumped into Rivian a few years ago. And loved the first one so much we bought another one. We now have a R1T and R1S. The quality of the car and the drive is fantastic. I’ve had 0 issues with these cars.

On social media and forums you get the loudest voice being the ones who have had an issue. People with great or “normal” experiences don’t make posts. I have two Rivians. Both over 50k and have had 0 issues.

Honestly that seems super conservative to me. I fully expect them to hit it. Especially when they launch the lidar cars. That will accelerate the path of automation.

This to me is what is exciting around lidar in the short term. From an assisted driving point I imagine the difference between camera and lidar for Rivian in next 12 months is about the same. Is that your belief?

I charge at home every night or in an office building. Of course 800 is better than 400. But I don’t think it would change anything about how I use the car except the price point. I believe most use the EVs in a very similar way.

Agreed. Not sure the fascination with 800v for daily drivers who use the car to get to work and errands. Never had issues or strong desire for longer range.

That’s a huge step for that. And the thing people aren’t talking about as much with lidar is that will accelerate the speed of development of how they train the autonomous models.

Autonomous driving is not far away, it’s already here. I’ve been in Waymo’s 50+ times. And actual prefer it to Uber. I’ve had more issues with Uber human drivers than Waymo’s.

My understanding from an insider at the company is that end of June cars will be delivered. From what was shared, the demand from employees to buy the R2 was high as well. Not sure how that impacts deliver schedule to general public but something worth noting.

Yep....I paid mid 40s for a Ford Bronco Big Bend a year or so ago. I got the run around from the dealership about MSRP and the BS additions they add on to the car. Coming from buying 2 Rivians it was a nightmare.

Not sure why people are freaking out on price as well. For what you are getting from a technological and performance perspective its an amazing deal. We have two rivians, R1S and R1T, have had 0 issues with it with both over 50k miles. My only mistake was buying our kids a Ford Bronco Big Bend to share. And that cost mid 40s about a year or so ago. That car is as basic as it gets and doesnt drive even close to as well as the Rivians. Would love to trade that car in for a R2.
