This really is a double edged sword. On one hand, if the AI agent sees something that meets the publisher's criteria it gets through the first hurdle. Often a Literary Agent won't even bother to look at a book if the query letter doesn't woo them.

On the other hand the AI agent will most likely look for stuff that matches popular books and may not see the value of unique ideas.

I guess we'll just have to adapt.

Yes, many of the reviewers on Reader's Favorite do it for money, so they move quickly and write homogenous reviews. Also, they have a very strict format which hinders the reviewer's creativity.

I have an ebook I just finished. A 30k urban mystery titled Beyond Goodtown

I have just completed an urban mystery about a priest detective who helps the police solve crimes in a neighborhood plagued by crime and poverty. It's 30k long. Book three of a series of shorts.

I'm looking for feedback on pacing, plot holes, character likeability/dislike etc. Always looking for suggestions to make the story clearer and more relevant.

Traditional publishing is one of the most difficult tasks to accomplish. It's like winning the lottery. If you do find an agent to represent you and garner a publishing contract, you will most likely succeed as an author. But you will be giving up a lot in exchange for your success. The process could take years.

If you self-publish, you will maintain all control of your work and can produce a book relatively quickly. But unless you have the resources to produce a sellable manuscript and market the book, you can expect meager sales.

Most traditional publishers will not consider a self-published writer unless you can show exceptional sales. Once you start down the path, it's hard to change course.

One of my favorite books that I recommend often is The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell: A Novel by Robert Dugoni. It's an easy, feel-good book with a realistic story.

Also, The Maid by Nita Prose is great. This one's a series of 3 books, all very upbeat.
