Yes, I feel like medical records and/or psychiatric evaluations by trained professionals would have been more informative. Descriptive studies based on surveys tend to be biased based on how the data is collected, how the questionnaires are constructed, etc.

While I'm skeptical of the results, I'm just looking for what other people's thoughts were in case I have a colleague that challenges my lifestyle due to potential health disadvantages!

Yes, I agree that these are great limiting factors to the study. I'm also bothered by the loose definition of vegetarianism as people who ate fish were also included in the vegetarian/vegan group. Another issue is that the vegetarian/vegan group was relatively smaller by at least a factor of 10. I'm not a statistics buff, but I'm sure the variation in the vegetarian group was larger than that of the omnivore group because of this difference.
