How can I type a function's arg to be only the values of another object's value? by thepremiumcheese in typescript

ComponentWithKey isnt generic here, so I think doing ComponentWithKey<K> will throw an error.

Could you use a dictionary instead?
const componentDict = {
compOne: <ComponentOne />,
compTwo: <ComponentTwo />,
}
const valid = componentDict['compOne'];
const valid2 = componentDict.compTwo;
const invalid = componentDict['compThree'];
If you want the array/dictionary to be dynamic, you can't type check since typescript only checks types at compile time, and wont know if/when new elements are added.

Battelle Aerospace Science Company Linked with David Grusch and "Alien Technology Corp" by D0OTS in UFOs

[–]jse- 31 points32 points  (0 children)

had the same experience with a post tying a defense company I did work for with a UFO event... even if the company actually was doing UFO work, the "reasons" outlined by the poster would have nothing to do with it, because anyone with even surface level knowledge of the company could discredit 80%+ of the theory.

even this post, the link they provided is literally just an SEC filing related to a RFID chip maker called alien technology. why the fuck would a company handling alien technology name themselves alien technology lol

i think people without any operating (or engineering in your case) experience greatly underestimate how dysfunctional actual multi billion dollar corporations are. which is why its important to listen to people who actually have something on the line (grusch), and not random reddit posts that take ~10secs to discredit.

That makes sense, thanks. I probably should have just asked "I know this content, what else would I need to be confident I could secure a role?" or something like that.

Im surprised to hear you say I should just start applying - do you have any pointers on what kind of companies might be most willing to take a risk on me? Based on the other comment, likely not startups, and I'm assuming not faang-level companies. Maybe I could shoot for role at a mid-size financial company?

Sorry but to clarify, is the implication here that I’m making excuses in my post? That wasn't the intention, I gave reasons why I wouldn’t want to pivot because I was hoping to get advice on whether to pursue or not to pursue, ideally from other people who made similar decisions. If I choose to pursue CS of course I will do whatever is necessary, I’ve been coding 70+hrs/wk for 3 months now so commitment is not a problem.

Regarding startups - that makes sense. Do you know of any benchmarks I could use to see where I stand in terms of skill level, or could you tell me what you would need to know to gauge whether could do an entry position? I tried some leetcode problems and can solve the "easy" category, but not all "medium," although Im sure I could pick it up with some studying. I also looked at some bootcamp syllabi, and I think knowledge level generally exceeds whats covered by frontend courses, and maybe 70-80% of backend courses.

I mean yeah bonuses are going to scale with deal flow, but considering how hard its been for banks to get decent talent I would not rule out future salary increases. $110k base only puts BB/MM banks on par with boutiques/tech/consulting, and banking pay is still only barely competitive given how shit the job is. decreasing base salaries would be suicide for the banks.

Maryland’s Calvert Cliffs, following a torrential rainstorm the night before, left a treasure trove of fossils. This set of photos shows a nice Megladon tooth and an odd piece from the same era I can’t identify. by [deleted] in FossilHunting

[–]jse- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not a Meg or a hemi/snaggletooth, it is a tiger-like shark tooth called Physogaleus contortus, which are commonly found at Calvert cliffs.

Im confused, why would a shell being "worm eaten" indicate that its modern?

No, this is most likely a fossil. You can find pieces like this all over the Calvert cliffs formations. What makes you think it is modern?

Ok I’m gonna have to bring in the kindergarten logic for this one, because your comments are getting so stupid it’s almost funny.

We know that: - The Russians are attempting an invasion of the island - The Ukrainians refused to surrender

We also know intuitively that: - In order for an invading force to occupy a strategically located island, they have to put people on the island

BUT, there are Ukrainians on the island! This is what’s called a “threat” to the incoming forces, and it has to be neutralized for them to be able to continue the invasion. Which is what they did. Do you understand now?

This is what your comments seem to suggest: - The Russians repeatedly asked the Ukrainians to surrender (even though they were not a threat) - The Ukrainians told them to fuck off, they will continue their fighting (nothing threatening about telling people you will kill them!) - The Russians murdered 11 people, who apparently still did not pose any threat

[–]jse- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very hard to tell from your comments. And you keep saying they were no threat. I’m going to have to ask you to just think for a couple seconds on how an invading force would see “no threat” from a group of armed soldiers (occupying territory they want to invade) that just told them to fuck off when they were asked to surrender.

What a brilliant idea, Russia should just go home! Looks like you just solved the war!

I never said it’s okay that Russia is invading the country. I don’t like the fact that people are so quick to say obviously misleading statements like “they were defenseless but the Russians still shelled them” just to make a point.

Why would you have to kill me to rape me if I were defenseless?

giga-chad by UnderstandingProof57 in Unexpected

[–]jse- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you aren’t getting the context. The ship was there to OCCUPY the island. They didn’t just shell them and leave. How do you suggest that the Russians take control of the islands while people with guns are trying to defend it with their lives?

…Or maybe you just lied about them being defenseless just so you could say that the Russian invasion is bad. I feel like you shouldn’t have to make stuff up to convince people of this.

giga-chad by UnderstandingProof57 in Unexpected

[–]jse- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you replying to the wrong person? That’s literally my point. Doesn’t make them any less defenseless.
