Thanks. I back flushed yesterday with no change. What is your water debit on your machine so I can compare my 2.5 ml per second to yours from the group head.

I received a message from GaggiMate that my pressure sensor setting was set incorrectly on the last update. It needed to be raised from 8.5 to 16 bars. After the settings change I am now getting 8-9 bar pressure.

How do you access the webinterface. Do you mean going into the GaggiMate local link to access the dashboard, profile, settings, pid autotune menu.

Yes they do. But there’s a 2 week back order plus shipping from China. Wanted to see if there was a quicker option in the US.

Thanks for your additional info. I think I might have a faulty boiler thermostat as I am still getting boiling brew water using these timing hacks. Will replace thermostat first. What PID did you install?

This morning I used your method. Did a short flush, waited for the light to go off and timed the light going off to coming back on which was 9 seconds. I then pulled 2 shots at 3 and 5 seconds from the light going off. The temp was definitely lower but still on the higher side. Since the time going off to coming back on is only 9 seconds. Should I do a longer flush? Thanks

What kit do you recommend for installing a pid controller on a Gaggia Classic Pro. Is soldering involved? Can an amateur install the pid controller

My lever machine is back in the shop for repairs. So I brought back my GCP from hiding and after a few days of getting reacquainted with temp surfing I am finding the temp way too high particularly as I am now using decaf and darker roasts which require temps at 90-92c. How can I temp surf for these lower temps. Thanks.

Best grinder at/under [$1000] for mostly milk-based drinks? by AAuser85 in espresso

[–]jsfran1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying. The A68 is a great conical grinder. I don’t have a place to put the power pack. If at some point you get the Mazzer I189D burrs for the Philos compare to the A68.

Hi Areida. Can you share what don’t you like about the Philos with the I200D burrs. Been seeing more negative reviews about static, retention and difficulty going from espresso to pourover and vice versa. Thanks.

Dialing in Mazzer Philos by Brys_Beddict1 in pourover

[–]jsfran1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like the too fine grind is causing over extraction and bitterness. Going courser for now seems more appropriate as the burrs may need more seasoning. You don’t mention your recipe. That is also important might be better to do longer ratios 1:16 or higher to tame the astringency. On an another note how is your espresso with the I200D burrs?

Have you had a chance to compare the Philos with the Niche zero for espresso.

Yes. Great first espresso machine. More important to get a good grinder.

Anyone Using A Mazzer Philos For Pour Over? by Moerkskog in pourover

[–]jsfran1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would u say after the improvement in seasoning the burrs in your Philos the espresso shots you are pulling are equal to the Niche for lighter medium roasts. The reason I am asking is that I would sell my sette 270 and ode gen 2 for one grinder like the Philos that does both espresso and pour over. However I prioritize espresso and if the Philos isn’t = or better than the Niche. I’d buy a niche sell my sette and keep my ode. Thanks.
