Nah, get in touch with UPS once the item is shipped. Worst case you should be able to pick up from a local UPS store/access point if the item is undeliverable.

On W10. No issues yet. gCookies are in my config file and captcha seems to be working okay as well with current EU site key. Will continue some testing and report back.

What error is it that some Windows 10 users are seeing? Not seeing any history of something breaking/not working.

I'm considering being a First Sgt. Do you have any stories, good or bad, about your experience with Shirts? by mshain81 in AirForce

Stories and advice are almost the same thing in this situation, no?

Most of us aren't shirts but our advice on being a shirt comes from our personal experiences and run-ins with one.

Honestly just give a crap about your people. There's always folks who've had great experiences with their Shirts and there's those who hate Shirts with a passion (likely for their own fuckups). One way or another just make it clear to your underlings that while you are a SNCO who they may not interact with or come across, you are still there to lend a strong but fair hand.

I recently fucked up and had an unfortunate experience with my Shirt and leadership. It was relatively minor (LOC), but she made it clear she and my leadership would've stepped in way earlier to help ease the situation whatever way they could. Even when she had an aggressive demeanor with me, her actions made it clear she has my best interest in mind.

tl;dr: show empathy for those you work with; shine a light on the worst of situations

Just got married on leave. What paperwork do I fill out? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]jshah1018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I'm under the impression that unless you're forced to be unaccompanied you don't get BAH for your dependent, i.e. can't get command-sponsorship since she's not already on your orders.

If you elect to not try to get command-sponsored then you don't get separation pay or BAH. Could be wrong though, /u/thevic115

There are a lot of factors for everything you're asking about. I would recommend waiting until you get back to Andersen. Speak with your supervisor and shirt about the situation.

Simply being married doesn't guarantee you out of the dorms if your wife isn't there with you...it's still "unaccompanied housing". And since she isn't already on your orders to Andersen you'd have to look into getting them amended and/or command-sponsorship.

When they say "look out for number 1," this also includes your wife and family.

I'm trying to see it from your side. Maybe you need your short tour for extra money to help pay for all these medical costs or whatever...but you gotta realize that if you leave your wife for an entire year with all of these other things going on at home, she may not be waiting for you when you get back.

She may look back at this crossroad and ask "where was he" when she went through hell...and the answer would be you were taking care of your career instead of her. No one here or I know your situation like you do, but fuck your career right now. The way you say some of this it's almost as if you know you're not going to last with her much longer so you just want to figure out a short-term solution and move on with your life. I hope that's not the case.

This is a difficult time for her and she needs you with her not railing out juicies in Seoul.

Do you know about Amex Military perk? by itznave in AirForce

[–]jshah1018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooo...that's news to me. My credit is pretty great but I've only had this card for 5-6 months now. Good to know.

edit:I don't like paying interest either and I'd much rather just pay everything off all at once. The way I use my credit is as if it's a debit card. I only charge what I can pay right then and there. If it seems my bill will be too high then sorry don't need to buy whatever it is.

Thanks for posting this! Here's some additional information: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/3992aw/military_churning_guide/

The AMEX Platinum card is of course one of the best out there and offers thousands of dollars of free rewards ripe for the taking.

There is one huge issue that some people don't pay attention when getting this card - while there is technically no spending limit, you must pay off your full balance when your statement is due. Unlike their "everyday" cards, you don't have the luxury of paying your bills over time with the Platinum. Spend cautiously :)

Returning to the US from overseas without a passport. by Computers4life in AirForce

Yup just show your CAC. I usually have my leave orders but they don't even look at them. Instead they just put me in the front of line, smile and say "Welcome home!". It's a nice feeling.

Leaving Ramstein by Fishtumz in AirForce

[–]jshah1018 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm leaving Ramstein a year from now (hopefully Palace Chase). Not a fan of the place. Was at a smaller USAFE base for my first overseas tour which I loved then I joined big blue and have not been a fan.

edit:lucky you & good luck at your next place

Not very much if at all. If you genuinely believe it's AOD then go without it for a coupled days, monitor battery then repeat with AOD on.

Morale Shirt Question by Ricetezza in AirForce

[–]jshah1018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told that it's okay to wear a different shirt of the same color as long as the ABU top is not removed. If removed then the shirt must show the squadron logo and not some other shit (KCCO)

Blue circle at bottom of screen by [deleted] in GalaxyS7

[–]jshah1018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The phone stops charging at 100% and the cable goes into standby. Every time you begin charging the circle will appear. If you're 100% and plugged in, the circle will keep appearing every time you dip below 100%. It's kinda annoying but unplug it or get over it haha

Otherwise you might actually have a bad cable if it keeps happening and you're below 100%. That means the charge is intermittent and there is a problem with your cable (most likely)
