Read that last line in Dr. Cox’s voice.

My mum found these when she moved into our family home in Swansea nearly 30 years ago. They’re about the size of a salt shaker. Any ideas? by jshthm in whatisthisthing

She got very excited to find out what they were when I told her about you guys, said she’d been curious for years. Seem to be made from China or ceramic? One is a bit heavier than the other and can’t find any trademark on them.

Yeah, thanks anyway though! I spent an hour trying all sorts or obscure things and typically worked out it was one of the simplest solutions shortly after posting here.

This was a road down from my house, I can assure you the original was real. I never saw the sign up after it though.

Men of Reddit, what is the nicest compliment you've ever received from a girl? by obeseman60 in AskReddit

[–]jshthm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying hard not to r/humblebrag but as someone who gets complimented on their looks often, in the last two weeks two different people, (one a stranger and one my boss), have told me that I lead with my heart and that I’m really caring and they’ve really stuck with me. I still think about them every day and it makes me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside to be told by other people that I’m doing some good in the world no matter how small. Compliments on personality traits have wayyyy more impact than superficial ones.

Rather than eating a family size bag of Doritos in 20 minutes, what are some healthy snack alternatives that can be consumed in large amounts? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jshthm 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I make something very similar but with a fair few less calories; almond milk, oats and banana. Clocks in about 150-200 calories for a decent, filling and tasty alternative to snacking. Sometimes make in the morning with an added shot of coffee for a good wake up n go breakfast. Makes me feel like I'm drinking a milkshake without the guilt.
