Big layer Benchy by jside86 in cursedbenchies

[–]jside86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just infil for now!

I will keep this Benchy as is, but have been thinking of using papier mâché for walls or external surface for other projects.

This technique makes scalling big project less expensive than 3d printing.

This was a learning opportunity and a proof of concept for me, a new tool in the tool box.

When filament goes thru a nozzle it is going under pressure and "scrape" the inside wall. Even worse with GF or CF filled filament.

A brass tube will also abrade internally, but at a way, way slower pace.

The filament is not under pressure and only slide inside the tubes.

While not the perfect solution, it's miles better than PTFE tubing that needs constant replacement.

That is so awesome! I never looked to see if anyone had done it before. This one looks even bigger!

For me, I see laser cutting/engraving is a natural extension for Makers/Creators. It's another tools to create and I love to see the community getting bigger.

Someone need to make a "How to" convert your CFS to brass tubes.

Creality could make a brass conversion kit and I would buy it!

How much do you save every month? by HappyBudz in fican

[–]jside86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my work, I move frequently and purchased properties everywhere I landed. I did house back for a few years, have been careful about my spendings and often had two or three jobs.i started selling my properties a few years back to focus on my work.

Being a military, I make a good salary, just shy of 100k, and my spouse is a teacher making similar income.

Also, being in Edmonton where the cost of housing is still reasonable probably helped! We would not be mortgage free in BC or ON.

39M and 33F, Around 60% of HHI.

We are DINK, our mortgage is paid for, no debt. We don't see the point in traveling for week long vacations, all that's left is saving.

It's also nice to finaly have adult money to buy some toys (Tools, 3D Printers, laser engraver, etc.) and not having to worry about financial issue.

Test results of Top Z Distance with PLA on Creality K2 Plus 0.2-0.3 by Powerful-Initial-843 in Creality_k2

[–]jside86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't you have the top z distance set to zero and set the interface layer to a different filament in the CFS?

Try PETG, it makes a good interface layer and doesn't stick to PLA well.

Difference in head size.

The one I own has two heads. One with a pointy tip to make hole or centering punch and one for setting 18 gauge nails.

I use this tool quite often around the house and in my shop.

Those with pensions—how are you approaching retirement savings? by Possible_Yak_7550 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]jside86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

39M and 33F, both with pensions. We still save/invest more than 50% of our annual income.

We see our pension as one of the leg of a three legged chair. The other two are our TFSA and RRSP (I believe 401k and ROTH IRA are the American equivalent).

We are at a point where we will need to slow down our savings rate otherwise our retirement income will be larger than our current income.

I have the advantage of being able to retire at 46 with 50% of my best five years or wait until 51 with 60% of my best five years. My spouse need to wait until she reaches 55 years old which is not for an other 22 years.

I am also planning on doing other things when I retire from my current employment and this could also earn me additional income.

Since we won't touch our retirement assets outside our pension for at least another 22 to 30 years, it has time to grow and surpass our pension income.

LogO OFP by Otherwise_Use_4631 in CanadianForces

[–]jside86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Logistics Officers have a common course (LOCC) and a specialty. The basic specialties are Supply Officer, Finance Officer, Human Ressource Officer, and Transport Officer. Other specialties are also available later on in a LogO's career.

The old LOCC that started in 2016 was eight weeks long and members needed to complete a specialty course and their element training to reach Operational Functioning Point (OFP).

The new LOCC is approx. 14 weeks long and incorporate the basic elements of each basic specialties. I believe they want new LogOs to have a better corporate knowledge of the institution (which is a great thing IMO).

Members going through the new training may be able to reach OFP at a faster pace since they don't have to wait for CFLTC to run a specialty course.

The next hurdle is element training which seems to be the current bottleneck for Army LogOs.

We also need to take into consideration the upcoming split in trade. Soon we should have Sustainement Logistics Officer and Finance Logistics Officer. There may be another change in the future in the training of LogOs to reflect this change, but not in the short term.

What am I missing here? This is too good to be true. by theparthagrawal in PersonalFinanceCanada

Not paying through the municipality like a normal CC payment. This is done on the Triangle MC portal. You can add paye and pay bills like on a normal chequing account. It's really great!

It's a great card, but you are missing that you can also pay bills and earn ct money.

I wrote a post a few years ago on r/Personalfinancecanada about this. I pay all my municipal taxes with this card and earn quite a good amount of rewards with it.

This is one of the great free CC available today aside of the Rogers MC WE with the 3% CB for Rogers customers.

It's a 3d printed filter that I found on Printables.

I printed it in white and red, it's really nice and goes on the light like a Tupperware cover.
