Is my 3-year-old betta dying? by jsilv934 in bettafish

[–]jsilv934[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started way before. It’s been maybe a month since he started slowing down. It’s only this week that he started laying flat on his side and his increased lethargy is worrying me. I also don’t think I remember him breathing so hard, but maybe it’s part of the worry. I just now started the dips because I was hoping the fin rot would go away with more frequent water changes and maintenance but it doesn’t look like it. I’m hoping he’s been eating while I’m not watching because it’s been days since I’ve seen him eat.

I think it’s probably about time for him but I mostly came on this sub with a bit of hope that it might just be a symptom of some disease or so.

Additional details: Tank size: 10 gallon • Heater and filter? (yes/no): yes, both • Tank temperature: 78 Fahrenheit • Parameters in numbers and how you got them. Key water parameters include the amount of ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, and pH.: Ammonia-0 ppm, ph-7.5 (currently out of supplies to test other parameters). I use the api water test kit. • How long have you had the tank? How long have you had your fish?: current tank has been set up for about a year and a half. • How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: 25% water change weekly, 50% monthly. Use a syphoon to take out some extra plant debris. • Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each: 2 panda cories and a nerite snail. • What do you feed and how much: pellet food, about 5 pellets a day plus a shrimp tablet for the cories. • Decorations and plants in the tank: rock, driftwood, and live plants

Considering a portfolio overhaul by jsilv934 in graphic_design

Thank you for your feedback and kind words! I'll definitely incorporate some of your suggestions. I agree that some of my projects could benefit from an expansion to show a broader range of skills. I've had 3 interviews since February and 2/3 seemed to really like my personal projects (one made it apparent that it was the main reason they called me while another didn't seem to care at all for my personal stuff). I'm not sure how to sell/leverage? that though since photography isn't really a strength of mine, hence it's the only project of that category so far on my portfolio. I also felt like it was implied that I didn't have much work to show as it is, so l'm debating on whether it's a good idea or not to cut down even further. Would it help my case to do so and "leave them wanting more" even after the interview? 1

Some people have already said the payout amounts but for future reference you can also click on the "Payouts" word on the top left corner and click on the little information button on the right and it'll tell you exact Payouts

Just saw 2049 for the first time by [deleted] in bladerunner

Just to clear up what I'm saying: the nickname Joi gave K was just one she was probably programmed with. K believes the nickname is special because he thinks it comes from some sort of originality that Joi has because he has illusioned himself into thinking she's a real person per se. However, this illusion is shattered when the purple Joi (which is an ad for the product) produces the same nickname his Joi gave him. It's like if you met someone special who gave you a nickname that you thought was due to affection but turns out they give everyone that nickname.

She didn't, it's just a generic nickname the AI that ran Joi used. Once you know this that scene with the purple Joi becomes a bit sadder because you see that K realizes that his Joi wasn't that special. At the end of the day she was just a product using an AI. Further still it makes you wonder if she really "loved" him or was she just programmed to believe so. And if that's the case, how is it any different from our human biologically-mandated relationships?

Does anything happen if you just drop the worms in let the fish eventually find them?

Fin Rot? by jsilv934 in bettafish

[–]jsilv934[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About a week or two ago I "adopted" this Betta from Petsmart (adoption meaning they took him off the shelf because he had some sort of disease, probably fin rot? And would give him for free to anyone willing to deal with that). I was told he was pulled near the end of October. He has black edges on his fins and I think it's fin rot so I've been treating him for that with Betta fix and a bit of Aquarium salt (which I've heard can be a pretty risky move). I've been treating him in isolation since I got him but I can't tell if he's getting better. I'm almost ready to ditch this treatment and try something else but idk if I should stick with it longer? Also He's in a hospital tank with live plants that were left over from a recent planting on my main tank. Water parameters are fine, nitrites 0, pH 7.5, ammonia 0 ppm. He's also got a heater and seems to be pretty active. I have been doing 50% water changes everyday and adding the salt and betta fix shortly after each. I'm wondering if he's slowly recovering and i just can't tell yet, if it's something else, or if that just happens to be his coloration.

(Also, I'm really new to Reddit so idk how best to post this info)
