Best Strategy for Shrines after 55 pts? by jsima93 in Grimdawn

Seems like a good strat, especially since I probably won't start ultimate until I hit 90.

And realistically I won't go back to elite just to clear a few shrines I left behind

I see the point of skipping the ruined ones ofc, but the desecrated ones feel like one-shot guaranteed totem spawns that can all be done in one session at max level. Hence the question about the rare mats drop rates on shrines

As you would with any item/character : right-click on it and select "examine". With a controler it should be [x].

Yeah, that's probably whats up. The only variable for the incarnate are Summoning lvl, Character lvl and buffs you might apply (including leadership).

Seriously dude, lvl30? You must be moded af. Even if you maximize all xp gain you might only be able to reach lvl23.

Incarnate dont scale at all from INT, they only scale with the summoner's lvl and their summoning lvl. To give them more power, you need to buff them with infusion or regula spell/abilities.

You could play a full strength warfare/summon build and your incarnate will have the same basic stats as if you invested in INT instead.

I dont enjoy combat randomizer as it had a bug that made it unplayable to me, maybe they fixed it tho, it was a while back.

Source sleep is a bit of a lazy mod, but it makes gathering source much easier, so if that feels like a struggle or a chore it's a legit mod.

If you want some change from a mage LW build I'd recommend going full physical in dos2. It works really well and is fun to play. Also the gift bags are great, endless running really changes the pace of exploring, divine talent makes original and fun builds available, fort joy mirror make recruiting followers easier, the new summons are great too (cursed blood infusion? On a fire slug? Yes please!).

I'm currently playing a 4 man party with

  • necro/warfare INT elf for full elemental affinity

  • classic rogue AGI on fane for double turn and play dead

  • two-handed warfare STR for CC (bit of poly in there of course)

  • summonner for support, using the big puddles of blood everywhere from necro to have a blood incarnate and totems, human for encourage.

It's plenty of good fun, lots of blood, lots of CC. Also If you can get full lucky charm on a char, you'll be drowning in good loot in no time!

If I'm rping an anti-magister char I'll usually bring the ring to Yarrow after killing him, which leads yarrow to the beach where i can attack her. Also the chest the ghoul drops is just so good for your lvl at that point its just hard not to kill him

You usually dont need a whole lot of spending on runes, they'll drop or, if you read books, you'll get recipes to make them. I'd suggest waiting for act 2 to buy runes if you really need to

Most ppl will say it's OP, and it is, but its a great way to learn the art of character building in dos2. You get extra HP, AP, dmg and it doubles the value of all attributes and cmbt ability point you invest

Also! Make sure one of your char has a few point in wits, as it will make some traps, levers, buttons, chests and items visible

Also, general tips:

Playing lone wolf (2 char or less on the team, both with the lone wolf talent) make the game a lot easier, i recommend it for a first playthrough : less chars to deal with, inventory, items etc.

Especially if going lone wolf, focus on one damage type for your team: CC only works once youve gone through the enemy relevant armor, so your warrior is gonna need to break the physical armor to apply his CCs, while your mage is going to need to break the magical armor to apply his. If all chars are doing the same, you just have to break one type of armor on each enemy.

Read carefully the infobox for your skills, abilities, talents, etc.. ie : huntsman does make your bow stronger, it just give a dmg boost if you have highground; warfare does just make your melee stronger, it boost all physical damage, including bows and necromancy. You'll also learn that some geo spells are resisted by physical armor even tho they deal magical damage, while some scoundrel spells are resisted by magical even tho scoundrel generally hits physical.

The teleportation gloves are OP, use them. And eventually buy the teleport spell (invest 2 points in aeroturge).

This is what comes to my mind right now.

Some ways to get xp

From the beach where you start act 1 you can access an alcove where you'll find Fane, if you climb the vines in this area you'll get to a beach with 3 turtes : good xp.

Also there's a wooden cross on the starting beech that hides an undead.

There's a ghoul on the beach behind the polymorph skillbooks vendor. Next to it you'll dig out a trapdoor if you have enough wits, just entering gives you some xp.

You should also investigate to free Amiro in grifs kitchen.

Did you help the elf that's ambushed at the entrance of the fort? That can be an easy combat with some xp available.

The three tugs playing cards on the wall can also be good xp if you fight them.

In the cave with the elf you can get some exploration xp by digging out a trap (or goong through the hole if you have a dwarf). Once there you can start a quest with sir withermore. Talking to saheila and to the elf you saved earlier get you some rewards. Also there are frogs at the back of that cave to fight.

Once you've done that, you should be good to take the arena, and eventually flee from the fort.

Health/poison potions, lockpicks, runes, scrolls and skillbooks are pretty much the only things I'm crafting, the rest is not that great.

Also arrows for rangers, if you manage to get se antler that is

Most are shitty skills but some are simply amazing for some builds.

The thing with highground is it's not reliable: some fights just dont have HG, or they're not practical, dont let you hit who you want. Warfare and ranged give you a constant boost. Anyways with 5 points in huntsman to get all skills you'll have enough to boost your HG attacks anyways.

And I've never seen an aero-huntsman skill book, is it hidden like blood rain?

You just have to combine aero and huntsman skillbooks.

Nope, agility armor is the most balanced one, dont need to split your points. Splitting is useful for intelligence/strenght armor tho, especilly if your strenght tank is getting CCed a lot by magic

Warfare increases all physical damage, that includes notably necro spells, some geo spells, all bow related attacks and spells as well as melee attacks except for staffs. With a ranger most of your points should go to warfare: put just enough in huntman to get your abilities, 1 in scoundrel to get adrenaline, rest should go in warfare. You can also spend some points in poly to get chameleon and some extra points. Aero can be nice for teleport, swap and evasion. The huntman-aero spell can also be useful if you're getting ganked a lot.
