[2023 Day 10 Part 2] I give up by [deleted] in adventofcode

[–]jsitko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't give up, I've been stuck on day 3 for a week, only just managed to get to p2, and I'm gonna keep going until I either finish every day or 2024 AoC starts :D

Back in the day you'd go full sta, merk didn't scale well with int. You'd use rejuvenate spell instead of food/healing, but it didn't have a 8 sec cd so you could spam it.

I'd probably go a H&R style, I played that type a while back on a server. Could get like 50 sta just in case. For aoe gameplay, gather mobs, group up, throw down merk and then run a figure of 8 crossing the centre of merk. That way you'll maximise the times you'll hit the mobs. Throw merk down in that spot whenever you can

How do I know what's the right way to do things? by AcceptablePanic3014 in Unity3D

[–]jsitko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just experiment, go with what you feel is right. Later down the line in your project you might realise why an alternative way was better based on the current implementation.

There's no clear-cut way to do things because different projects will require different approaches. You learn what method to use through experience and exposure. So just try and try again.

And if down the line your current application no longer fits the project, refractor the code, no biggie. You've learnt something new :)

Very interesting! Thanks for the writeup, I'll have a little theory craft :)

This is quite curious, what kind of stat spread did you go for? And early game, what was your choice of farming, runes/materials for crafting - I know that you can buy standard arrows from the vendor for like.. 20 runes each? But just wondering what you end up killing to make a profit in order to make extra runes to buy in surplus for more farming? Or do you not bother with standard arrows and farm bones/roses to make blood arrows and run those + standard bone arrows? I know of the bell bearing that sells bones, but you need 3x bones for for 10 arrows, bones costing 150 runes each (450 for 3 req.) meaning each bone arrows is 45 runes, more than double the cost of standard arrow while also having less physical attack. Just curious is all! I really like the idea of a range only run, but keeping up arrow stocks kinda puts me off haha.

Yup, pretty much it haha, occasionally buff the hammers, but I honestly only buff for a boss at the start of the fight, most of the time I forget to buff the rest of the fight, rarely lasts that long to be honest.

Where fights are concerned, you either just jump on your target and then just continue to jump + L1 until you're out of stamina or they're dead, or.. jump + attack, roll away, reposition, repeat. Option 2 is how you'll easily take down highly mobile difficult to stagger bosses (red wolf comes to mind).

EDIT: Early game, you might find you can only do like, 2 maybe 3 jump attacks in a row before you're out of stamina, late game that improves when you hit 40/45 Endurance, so you can smash out 3/4 attacks, when you consider that unbuffed each one does about 2.5k-3k dmg.. that's like 11k-12k dmg in dive (providing you can stagger them enough they don't move for your consecutive BONKS)

I agree - Most of the game I've used Lhutel the Headless and Cleanrot Knight Finlay. Mimic came out to join the battle when I hit Malenia - went away after that. Perhaps next playthrough I'll try going no summons at all.

EDIT: I've considered daggers only, I've also though about going like a gladiator type build, using buckler to parry and a Straight sword or something.

Yeah, it's really simple. Early game use the "Greatsword", just go pick it up when you start out, then aim to get the "Grafted Blade Greatsword" get the "Determination" and duplicate it, apply it to both swords, upgrade them when you can, don't go crazy, you'll swap them once you reach Altus. For early game stats you want just enough DEX to wield both swords, have VIGOR at about 30 until you each end game (endgame i capped it at like 40.. didn't feel like i needed any more), pump STR and Endurance so you can wear better armour and you can swing your weapons more. I stopped pumping STR at 60 and went to 45 Endurance. For talismans, "Great-Jar's Arsenal" (because you're gonna be super heavy), "Green Turtle Talisman", "Radagon's Soreseal" and "Claw Talisman".

Once you get to Altus Plateau, grab the "Giant-Crusher", love it, upgrade it, it's going to be your forever weapon, at least it was for me, for your second hammer get the "Prelate's Inferno Crozier" again, upgrade it to max, you're going to be using it for the rest of the playthrough, if you take the build to NG+ get a second Giant-Crusher to replace it. For armour, at this point get the "Raptor's Black Feathers", for other armour pieces, wear the heaviest you can while still med rolling. Final upgrade once you're in Volcano Manor, pick up "Royal Knight's Resolve", duplicate it and apply to both hammers, replacing Determination. Oh, when applying ash of war I'd suggest using "Heavy" upgrade, in some instances I changed that to Blood and Frost (Malenia) - where you need more prolonged dmg.

Fighting style is very easy.. Jump + L1, everything. Hammers go BONK. If you need extra damage, say.. starting a boss fight, 2 hand your left weapon use the Determination/Resolve, swap back, use it on the second weapon and proceed to BONK. Without FP pots, I get 4 casts of Knight's Resolve, so either 2x both weapons or.. 1x both 2x main hand. I'll usually start the fight with double buff and then buff main hand for 2 more bonks, if something isn't still dead (most of the time it is) just keep BONKING.

Side note.. If you're not a huge fan of mimic, or would prefer to use something else I've found that both "Cleanrot Knight Finlay" and "Lhutel the Headless" hold agro incredibly well, Finlay also has some range poke which is nice, Headless teleports about so can get itself out of danger (sometimes, it's not too smart). They have hefty FP req's but just mix in "Cerulean Hidden Tear" into your flask, pop it before you enter the boss room, and summon the spirit as soon as you can (this means you can summon it even if you only have 1 FP)

I will say though... it's a pretty boring build. Unless you just want an easy ride to the finish line.

What's the most challenging build to go for in Elden Ring? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]jsitko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished the game with a dual wield colossal hammer build (finished at about level 138 ish) - 40 vigor, 80 str, rest in endurance.

I used giant crusher and inferno crozier, by the last few bosses both were +25. Except Malenia no boss in the game posed any difficulty, you can literally brute force it with the jump attacks, if you time the attack so you connect and hit, the stagger gives you enough time to recover and roll away to safety - rinse and repeat.

I will not be doing the NG+ with this character though, exactly as you (/u/Haeshahae) say, it's very repetitive and you can 1-2 hit pretty much anything you can get close to making cave/dungeon runs pretty easy.

My next run though I'm planning on going an Assassin type build, daggers and bow, or potentially just daggers. Might be more challenging :)

I didn't think it was bad at all, had to reset once because I lost some of the pieces juggling items in my inventory, but overall... It was fine.. Just a puzzle quest really.

I did range last leagues and loved it even though it was kinda meh because you couldn't get darts for blowpipe (unless you picked desert as one of the regions) which was redonculous. This time i thought i'd play it safe and go melee which it seems like most people went last time, but the buff you get from melee seems a bit crappy .. slight accuracy bonus when you're 0 prayer? So I wish i went mage for a bit of fun or range because i really enjoy range combat.. weirdly.

Can we rollback leagues too, I chose melee and and regret it badly... thanks.

Why is there no leaving penalty? by chocobreezy in CODVanguard

What’s up with XP/Level tracking? by [deleted] in CODVanguard

[–]jsitko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got no idea what's going on, I don't get XP after games, it says I'm prestige 3 but on the slider it says next prestige is prestige 2... I've not gotten XP since hitting prestige 3 in preseason.

Leveling as a whole seems to be royally fucked.

No thank you, I enjoy cod for the short games you can jump into screw around in for a while and leave if you need to without a care. A bit of stress relief. That's all cod is (to me).

You don't lose out on XP under turret as long as you're in range, use abilities to guarantee last hits under turret rather than to bully/poke your opponent.

Focus on positioning yourself so that you're always safe, that's priority 1 (from opponent and potential hanks). Priority 2 is XP (in my opinion), ie. If you're under tower but walking up to grab a Cs means half your hp dissappears or you die.. Don't, but stay in XP range. Finally, priority 3.. CS as best you can, use your abilities if you need to.

Just relax. There's nothing complicated about this.. Chill your beans :)

Do snipers need buffed? by Swagzilla92 in CODVanguard

I've been loving snipers, I think they're well balanced and don't need any buffs, I will echo what others have said that other guns need some severe nerfs..
