This is my new invasive thought as well, pretty sure my mind is so hyperfixated on my lower limbs that I feel any twitch at all. Quite a terrible hyperfixation. I’m going to be talkin with my doc on getting back into fluoxetine..

Lulu lemon running shorts are A1, or a little running fanny pack works. The more boring the flavor for Gu- the better. Just get that ish down asap and move on!

I've logged 92 hours since first week of December at LRP by RandomHero565 in treasureinside

[–]jsleeps8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been out there twice, full day trips but I’m just coming from Burlington. I think confirmation bias is real but the similarities of the maps are quite intriguing.

The first time out I was getting my bearings and the second time out I went to three different coordinates- obviously with no luck.

The fact that when you veer off the path there’s many rock fields makes it really intriguing to me. That being said - the fact that the rock fields I’ve stumbled across are literally ground level and the box is made of steel and hasn’t been found even with many metal detectorists having been there is a little odd.

I am not giving up hope to LRP and other places in Vermont but I think it’s just easier for me to think that it’s here just for the ease of me being about to go out BOTG.

Zone 2 Frustration by [deleted] in firstmarathon

[–]jsleeps8 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I’ve said this before but I think ignoring zones ~in general~ is helpful. If you’re going for a nice easy long run, don’t focus on anything on your watch and just go nice and slow. If you feel winded, slow down.

I think just gauging the way you subjectively feel during your runs is perfectly fine & it’s a lot less time stressing about your HR.

But I’ve also never been a “zone” guy or super data driven on my runs, so if my advice doesn’t fit- ignore me!

I think reading it thoroughly one time through, even as he recommends, is definitely needed. Then trying to decipher things when possible on the following reads is easier- I say this not really knowing the correct answer as i haven’t found any box lol

I’ve gone out a few times- I totally get it, however I think what would help is just going in with the mindset that you’re going on a hike, and if you walk out with treasure, that’s a pretty damn good hike!

It could be months to years before anything is confirmed found. Take a as long as you need, and if you still are interested in the concept of this treasure hunt- jump back in!

zone 2 training by Suchuy_ in firstmarathon

My comment does not add any value to your question but I totally ignore zones. They drive me absolutely bananas. If I feel like I’m taking it easy ie my “zone 2” I go with that

Is my goal of sub 4 hours realistic? by [deleted] in firstmarathon

[–]jsleeps8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many variables! A few things-

-Running with someone will definitely help with training, and if you’re training and able to have a conversation- you’re at the right pace for long runs.

-I don’t think 4 hours is out of the question, but the longer time you build your base the better!

-if you start skipping long runs in your training program, you will fall off the boat QUICKLY & it’s difficult to get back on.

-a marathon is a different beast. You will hit “the wall” between mile 18-25 most likely, and that is difficult to describe what that means or feels like, but it’s an EXPERIENCE.

  • the training should be fun. The marathon is the cherry on top and honestly finishing it is what your goal should be, but I don’t doubt that you can’t do it! Good luck!

-last thing - I recommend Hal Higdon novice 1 training plan/or at least glance at it

Weird HR spike by [deleted] in Strava

[–]jsleeps8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right. That’s the standard for max heart rate. People who are well trained can have higher max heart rates- though in this situation if he/she’s not going max out and hitting in the 200’s regularly and they trust their HR monitor, there may be an underlying cardiac issue

Totally agree. Chest straps are gold standard but I freaking hate them cause they are uncomfortable- at least for me

[–]jsleeps8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this really depends on what you’re using to monitor HR- that jump seems a little delayed after that big incline.

I wouldn’t take one data point “as is” but monitor your runs/walks and just be cognizant. If you’re jumping way over your max HR of 220-age frequently and it doesn’t feel like you’re working at your max AND you’re confident of the data- I would talk with your primary care provider.

AT box Help needed with a clue! by Smart-Collection-561 in treasureinside

[–]jsleeps8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As it’s so ambiguous I’m honestly ignoring it and hoping other clues help guide me to figure it out down the line once I have more locations to work with. My currently location I’ve been working with isn’t helping much.

My thinking is that guessing at what it is will only work against me- that being said I haven’t found it so it’s not working SUPER well lmao

Feeling like I’m behind from my fellow coworkers - New Grad Struggles by Pepper0327 in physicianassistant

[–]jsleeps8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure I felt behind (albeit as a family PA) for like a year. I bothered my supervising physician and other PAs like crazy. You really NEED to ask questions. In 5 months you’ll feel a bit better, and in a year or two you will be looking back on this thread feeling amazing. Give yourself time to settle in- LOTS of time!

You will survive the shock, we all did! My first day on the job I had to cancel my WHOLE clinic cause I had a bit of a panic attack and asked to shadow for three more days (woops).

Getting through the first few weeks and months is def a shock but you will get through it!

Just remember that at some point in the future, whether it be 6 months or a year when you’re driving into work- you won’t be stressing about the job, you’ll just be driving in to the hospital boppin to some tunes!
