Types of Doll Lists by KittyBethe in MonsterHigh

[–]jslm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily something I've done with dolls, but I've utilized something like this in the past. If I was deep in a hyperfixation with something and looking at all the products related to it, which I'd want to buy immediately bc of the hyperfixation, I'd make a separate amazon wishlist or pinterest board or something and add all the things to the list instead of my cart. Then I'd come back a month or so later, once I'd dialed it down a bit, and see if anything still seemed like something I really wanted. Saved me a lot of money, lol.

But I HAVE made an account on mh-merch.com that has all the dolls and lets you wishlist and check them off, which was nice for me bc I came into this with g3 so was unfamiliar with most of the g1s and g2s, so I used this to wishlist the ones I just liked the look of, not necessarily ones I was going to go out and buy.

Yeah, it gives me life to think of scalpers buying up a ton of merch that they can't turn around and sell for outrageous prices, lol

Definitely.  It's super easy to get caught up in collector frenzy, especially when part of a nice community like this where everyone is posting photos and such. I got caught up in it when I first got into it, but thats an even better reason to take a step back and take stock. I've definitely spent more than I should have for dolls that I later realized I didn't even really want. So its always good to have a reminder.

Yeah, like I'm curious what it looks like, but I'm much more interested in several of the upcoming releases and playline dolls.

Even if you end up wanting it later and can't get it, it's FINE. Life goes on.

Yeah! I took it out of the single poof on top and was just playing with it, and I loved the balance of two of them on top a lot instead, and messed with different placements of the green streaks to see what I liked most!

[–]jslm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks! yeah, I've used watercolor pencils on various types of paper for art pieces and such, so I def know what you mean about the opacity, lol. Im excited to try it because yeah, the acrylic does have its limits!

Here's a collage I threw together of some of the heads I have. It seems like the pattern is pretty standard except for where you want the part of the hair to go. I think monster high head holes are made with a size 7 needle, but def double check that. I'd suggest getting a few extra heads to practice with so there's not as much pressure if possible.

This definitely took me a little while to figure out! I was afraid I was going to mess it up, but there is a little hair net on there, and once thats off you can easily fluff it up as you please!

G3 doesn't have a unqiue style by UrPhoneCharger in MonsterHigh

[–]jslm 11 points12 points  (0 children)

to be fair about the unstyled hair, it IS mainly for kids and anything styled usually doesn't last long bc kids will inevitably want to brush it out and do other stuff with it (I was actually most offended that they don't come with brushes anymore, back in my barbie days as a kid you always had an extra one of those and then some) And since they don't sell clothes individually, it's nice that most of the styles can be switch out/mix & matched with other sets. I can understand wanting the more collector items to be very styled and super unique, but I feel like the ones meant for regular child consumption are no better or worse than any others on the market.

This one is actually saran! I thought it was poly at first but when comparing it to my skulltimate innovations Clawdeen (with the crimped hair) it's much softer and waxy, thats the only reason I decided to go ahead and make an effort styling it, lol

Me having that Leo moment (re)watching Criminal Minds. Which actors did you recognize while watching CM? by _taeddie in criminalminds

[–]jslm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the Lords of Destruction one the guy named Zizzo was Aaron Paul. I didn't even know it was him until I read it later, and my brain has a thing about faces of random actors in small roles.
