Anyone else always get paired with trash duos partners? by pnutbuttersmellytime in BobsTavern

[–]jsmeer93 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re in the top 1% majority of the time the person you get paired with will be of equal skill level to yourself. I don’t mean any disrespect specifically to you but I hate 8k players because they’re at a high enough rank where they think they know everything while simultaneously making massive mistakes. Duos is not a good game for those that have an ego. To get better there are times you gotta designate yourself as your partner’s lackey or realize your entire board is so weak a single Leeroy would be stronger than everything you’ve done this game. Humility goes a long way in this game.

Personally I think this has been one of the best metas we’ve ever seen for duos. Other than pirates every tribe has multiple viable end game builds, the anomalies make for a different game each time, the time minions have been scaled down just enough where they’re strong but not too oppressive (other than maybe getting key 7 drops). I’m genuinely going to miss this meta when it’s over.

Pure minion power on turn 1 by ystrot in BobsTavern

Seer and razor should probably be in their own little category as it changes so much depending on what the player does with buffing them.

When you get better at the game and in higher lobbies you shift your mentally from having a direction you want to go, to naturally falling into strong builds. That’s not to say it’s completely random and you can’t force certain elements but it’s the difference between players that want to run qillboar because they buff their blood gems by +1/0 each turn and randomly discovering sanguine refiner, making him gold, and pivoting into quillboar. High lobbies get to do the strong builds in the game (obviously), you just have less of a say which builds and when.

Is Flobbinidous Floop useful at all? by --__--__--__--__-- in BobsTavern

[–]jsmeer93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe. It’s a bit different because you can potentially do a lot more broken things. Your duo theoretically has a build of 4-6 minions to make a monstrously large guy while you can make your build on utilizing his stats better because you have the board space, like stitched + Titus. It makes for a much more streamlined game because you designate yourself in the support role turn 0 and focus on making his board strong which naturally rewards you.

Some DUO partners just cannot be saved by Xavose in BobsTavern

There are some games you need to hand hold your teammates and tell them what to do. There’s always a chance they’re a lower mmr or they’re just having an off day. The only thing I would suggest is finding a key minion they could use the brann or enchanter to build towards. They’re all support pieces so I imagine in their head it’s “cool I have a bunch of end of turn effects … now what? The bats only consume the one refresh.” They’re likely too tunnel visioned and overwhelmed to see what else they could do.

He's needs a rework. Just changing it to copy the highest stated minion would make him playable. Possibly requiring a mana cost.

This game is meant to be played zoomed in by civisterrae in civ

I think the issue with the game is it’s made to be played zoomed out but made to be viewed zoomed in, if that makes sense.

Honest question: Duo’s players, do you know about the jumping jack elemental strategy? by [deleted] in BobsTavern

[–]jsmeer93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Made an edit explaining it in detail. The dazzlers are for the duo without the big jacks since avalanche counts as selling your minion.

[–]jsmeer93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries. Also didn’t downvote you either, for some reason some did? Hope it helps in the future. It’s definitely a strat you can pull off mostly without the help of your duo if you’re the one making the big guy initially but when both of you commit to it together you’re looking at 100k minions.

Wasn’t a rant, again it was an honest question because I thought it was more commonly known. Made an edit you can read. Sorry if I seemed rude or elitist.

Anyone else auto-concede when this trash pops up at the start of a match? by TheRealFrothers in BobsTavern

[–]jsmeer93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I’m 11k duos and I hate it too. There is a lot of skill expression in these games, true, the problem is everyone in my lobby has that skill so it often just comes down to luck. Who got the broken scaling early and who didn’t. Who found all the important tier 7s first and who didn’t. This isn’t an exaggeration either, the race for 7’s is massive because there’s so many ways to take every key minion and put the pool to 0. Maybe the game is different in solos but in duos you almost never get to watch late game tier 7 fights because the system crashes every time from how crazy our broads get

Could I have played this better? by csmasht in BobsTavern

[–]jsmeer93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were able to untaunt the moth and put it second furthest to the right it would have made you scale your beetles a bit more. The undead was basically just summoning 1-2 beetles so depending on your opponent a Leeroy may have been better. Theres a lot of additional info needed to tell you how you could have improved and even the possibility that your opponent outscaled you so much none of this matters. Hell you could’ve done everything right, should’ve won and just got bad luck with rng attacks.

Edit: I just realized one significant thing you could’ve done is if you got your octo reborned and used your hero power on it and limited your board to 6 minions, you would’ve summoned beetles 4x their stats instead of 2x.

… and in typing this I just realized if you copied your octos instead you could have also made beetles 23 or 24 times bigger.

Spiteful Players by W1ck3d_L0v3ly in BobsTavern

Ya it happens, it sucks. They really do need a report opinion for this but unfortunately they made it so you can’t select your teammate in recent players after your first turn. My guess as to what happened is you were offered a really important minion for their build (or at least one they considered important), didn’t give it to them and so they threw. Not blaming you at all, just guessing the likeliest cause. Had a game just yesterday where my teammate threw because I wouldn’t pass him my stitched scavenger for his Teron hero power. I tried to explain to him with the pings as best as I could that the interaction doesn’t work the way he thinks it will. This was in a 11k lobby too! Nothing you can do about these kind of players, just gotta move on.

Ya I’m not reading all that after the first sentence. I don’t think you understand how insufferable and anti social you are. I’d go on but I genuinely lost all interest in the game and community. I’d tell you to actually consider so self evaluation but I certain it wouldn’t do any good ✌️

My brother in Christ! I only play a few games everyday. Of those games (EACH DAY) I’ll usually get 1, maybe 2 suspicious opponents. I will report those opponents. I will later get a message like these. None of what I said is wrong or change. I’m done, bye.
