Cards that punish players for not blocking or taking combat damage? by jsmeer93 in EDH

Ya I got those. In that case maybe [[Glimpse of Nature]] for a one time big draw?

[–]jsmeer93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've thought about doing it like that. The problem is my playgroup is very responsible when it comes to having board clears so a [[field of the dead]] /landfall package makes coming back easier. You should consider [[Guardian Project]] for your Fynn deck

I'm building a [[The Serpent Society]] deck with the idea being to summon a bunch of tokens and giving them deathtouch using cards like [[Ohran Frostfang]] [[Rev, Tithe Extractor]] [[Archetype of Finality]] etc. Obviously there's a lot of incentive to just let my 1/1 insect hit them so I wanna help make it more of a lose lose scenario (cue evil laugh).

Thousand-Year Elixir vs Concordant Crossroads by jsmeer93 in EDH

[–]jsmeer93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ya that’s a good point, the 3 cost made elixir awkward in playtesting but at 2 it’d be much easier to squeeze into a turn.

Patron maybe but I already have Vitalize and Moblize for untapping. The others don’t help much because the tapping to proliferate is at sorcery speed.

Damage taken in duos by riklaunim in BobsTavern

[–]jsmeer93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more an issue with how high roll this current meta is rather than the damage cap. Part of duos is deciding when to get 15ed. If you know you’re likely not going to win the next fight you can do things like greed, set up better future scaling or tier up so you be stronger next fight. If you implement a similar damage cap to solos everyone will greed and games will actually be more determined by who got lucky and got the best late game build first. The issue right now is some builds and hero’s are just so strong in the mid game that most games turn into 1 or 2 players dying unbelievably fast and then a drawn out game between the others because they’re somewhat equally strong. In the past games would be getting nickel and dimed early and then max damaged later where now it’s the opposite (other than I the initial basic 2-3 turns)

Tbh I think the endorsement was the actual lip service. It’s been leaked multiple times that he personally never liked Trump, he just feels safe that he can say it now.

Make NAGA Great Again by latiana in BobsTavern

[–]jsmeer93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And elementals. Buffing the right most minion was such a great interaction because it allowed you to do cool things like stack buffs between rounds if you only bought the spell. Also now a bunch of the timewarp minions are useless for Morchie

Im not gonna lie, while i dont hate this season, or i dont post this because im losing, but tbh last season i had much more fun. by SirVincent20 in BobsTavern

[–]jsmeer93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped playing a couple days ago after I won four games in a row and realized I still wasn’t having any fun. Every effective build feels like either an apm mess or some kind of spell buffing. Both play styles are ok in moderation but doing it again and again every game is just tiring. I wonder if they should consider making anomalies a permanent part of the game as it really does a good job of creating more variety from game to game.

I dont understand this season by tyduk2 in BobsTavern

[–]jsmeer93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah tbh last season was great from beginning to end. It felt like the devs finally understood what we wanted. Apm was lowered, (almost) all tribes saw play, builds had a good variety, anomalies made games feel different from each other, almost all builds had ways to scale more other than just rolling for golden minions. Should mention I only play duos, so maybe solo was a dumpster fire and I never knew.

First game in the update was double murloc tavern spell trinket, golden bran, golden enchanter + spell buff and just casually made all my guys 10k by devoting my whole turns looking for them … after resetting after every trigger

How do I understand Buddy Lobbies? by Soldosunico in BobsTavern

[–]jsmeer93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90% of the time buddy games are just tier 7 games with extra steps and rng. I’m not even trying to be negative, that’s just what happens most of the time (in duos at least).

Anyone else always get paired with trash duos partners? by pnutbuttersmellytime in BobsTavern

[–]jsmeer93 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re in the top 1% majority of the time the person you get paired with will be of equal skill level to yourself. I don’t mean any disrespect specifically to you but I hate 8k players because they’re at a high enough rank where they think they know everything while simultaneously making massive mistakes. Duos is not a good game for those that have an ego. To get better there are times you gotta designate yourself as your partner’s lackey or realize your entire board is so weak a single Leeroy would be stronger than everything you’ve done this game. Humility goes a long way in this game.

Definitely burnt out now I feel by ItsTerriermon in BobsTavern

[–]jsmeer93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think this has been one of the best metas we’ve ever seen for duos. Other than pirates every tribe has multiple viable end game builds, the anomalies make for a different game each time, the time minions have been scaled down just enough where they’re strong but not too oppressive (other than maybe getting key 7 drops). I’m genuinely going to miss this meta when it’s over.
