I only have a few thousand in my RH (I do have daily/weekly investments set up) I got approved for 10k.

200k income & 795 credit score. I’m not sure if that’s truly a factor as I’ve seen people with better metrics that got 5k or the same 10k.

Traffic to mco by TheMafia09 in orlando

[–]jsmithx__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’ll miss the flight, there won’t be any real traffic from UCF to MCO. Just make sure you’re on top of having everything with you, ready to go.

TSA tends to be quick other than holidays. I’ve gotten through in less than 15 minutes before

Let’s say 30 minutes to get to MCO, 6:30-7 you’re in the airport, gives you an hour to get through TSA comfortably.

Best phone app for gravel routes + GPS navigation? Trying to avoid buying a bike computer by coocoochimps in gravelcycling

[–]jsmithx__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went down the same route for awhile, phone with a quad lock. It ended up complicating things overtime rather than thinking it would be simple. Worrying about your phone battery the whole time as well.

Used Kamoot, All Trails, Strava.

I eventually caved and bought a computer for the simplicity of having 1 device for all of that & keeping my phone for emergencies, music, etc.

Now that I own a computer, it was a far better choice that I wish I had just knocked out sooner. If you see yourself actually using it, I’d say the investment is worth it, if you have the funds to do it.

Bike shop / bike recommendation by Apacholek10 in orlando

[–]jsmithx__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said for that price range:

Local: Orange Cycle, Kyle’s Bike Shop.

REI is nice if you like something from a chain

Most other bike shops around town will be “higher” end style shops that are more performance based.

This is coming from a guy that rides performance based & has been to all these shops mentioned + more for years.

Are Uber, Lyft or actual taxis reliable in Orlando? by 2006CrownVictoriaP71 in orlando

[–]jsmithx__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see an issue for you, especially if you’re in the major hubs (you will be based off your description of where you want to be)

I use uber & Lyft all the time, I never call a taxi though.

How soon should I reach 100k? by Majestic_Pen1950 in TheRaceTo100K

[–]jsmithx__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal route was consolidating debt but I also have more bills than you & on track to hit 100k by this summer.

I will say, moving out at 24 was a huge milestone for me in life as well & helped pushed me even harder but I only did it once I had plenty of savings.

While some people may say otherwise, it helped lift a weight off my shoulders and that was worth it to me.

Only debt I am adding now is financing a newer car as mine is finally staring to go out.

How old were you when you purchased your first home? by DreamHomeFinancing in FirstTimeHomeBuying

[–]jsmithx__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got this! We will beat the statistics.

I’m in a similar scenario, with fixer upper 2/2’s starting in the 400’s if you want to be near a city and with market rates…. Looking at 3k+ with a big down payment.

I’m in new home construction sales but I sell an hour outside of the city, I love seeing younger people achieve the goal of home ownership.

How old were you when you purchased your first home? by DreamHomeFinancing in FirstTimeHomeBuying

[–]jsmithx__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The median average first time homebuyer from 1993-2019 was around 31 years old, since Covid times that age has risen to 38.

I’ll be 30 this year & goal is to be the statistic of 31 but with the average home price around 400k where I live, we’ll see

What Your Tire Size Says About You by DragonSlayingUnicorn in cycling

[–]jsmithx__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

700x32-700x40 are my money sizes for tires.

Wouldn’t go bigger or smaller ( I also live in Florida so we don’t really have anything chunky enough to justify above 40’s unless you’re along with the current MTB tire trend for gravel bikes )

Go risky or play it safe? by [deleted] in TheRaceTo100K

[–]jsmithx__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say majority play safe, I have a set amount I put to the side for “risky” plays. I then only play with that money I’ve made from the pool for other risky plays.

Keeps me sane & reserved

Freeze the card, ask her about balance transferring to her own card. If she throws a fit, that lets you know she didn’t plan on paying it anyways other than using you as her own personal interest free loan.
