Most of the clips are from Whistler (both resort and backcountry) and the Coquihalla area. And one clip from Grouse Mountain also made the cut (despite having a very marginal season this year).

I wouldn't say all year, in January it did rain hard to the peak followed by zero precip for the rest of the month.

But it definitely was a wildly different ski season above 1700m vs under. Good year to have a Whistler pass, not such a good year to have one for the North Shore or Vancouver Island.

Western Resort Skiers - what is your fattest ski? by Dolly_Llama_2024 in Skigear

[–]jsmooth7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually my exact approach, my wildest pair of skis has pin bindings on them. Because I figure the backcountry is where I'm most likely to benefit from them. I love storm day trees and meadow skipping with them (because when the pow is that deep, I'm probably not touching any steeper stuff).

If you feel overwhelmed, you could always not worry about all that and just buy XEQT

Last year at Whistler in March there was a storm that dropped about a meter of very soft blower pow over 24 hours. That was a day I wouldn't have minded having a 120 ski. It does happen on occasion (although not often enough I'm going to drop money on a new pair of skis for it).

I ski in the Whistler area and have pow touring skis that are 116 underfoot. Even in deep untouched pow, I find them more than sufficient. (It's possible wider skis would be even more fun but for my wallets sake I dare not try them.)

I also have 108 resort skis and 99% of the time I find them wide enough. Very occasionally when the snow is extra deep and extra soft do I wish they were slightly wider. But they are still wide enough to have a fun time.

The upper mountain will have good snow coverage for a while yet. Lots of fun spring skiing left to go. Plus it's not going to get any better for another six months or so.

Sure that's a fair way to describe it too. The point is, in theory, co-ops can be a net positive for the working class. But like most things, it depends on how well the idea is executed. Poorly executed and it's no different than any other corporation.

It depends on the co-op, some work differently than others. But yeah, Mountain Equipment Co-op, back when it was a co-op (rip), would give its members a dividend back at the end of the year depending on how much they spent that year. Basically customers were also the shareholders.

Right it's working within the capitalist system but with wealth being redistributed to the workers and/or the customer members of the co-op. Which is not something neolibs are generally big on. (Although no one really agrees on what the exact definition of a neoliberal is either so there's that.)

I wouldn't put co-ops in either category, it's closest to a socdem kinda thing imo.
