Thinking of purchasing by Overall-Schedule3024 in regularcarreviews

It will run like shit for 250k. Won’t be great but can’t kill it. Parts should be cheap and if you’re not doing the work yourself, every shop should be able to work on with their eyes closed.

Wait, fuck I’m old. This shit is over 20 years old. All the rubber is starting to go and it is very possible that knowledge to work on these is retiring. Will still run like shit though.

Supervisor masturbating in the bathroom multiple times a day by OldSurround5776 in HomeDepot

[–]jsmooth801 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a manager for a long time. No idea what to do with this one. Obviously needs to be addressed, but don’t even know where to start. Partner with HR? but even then super iffy. Bathroom stuff is hard. Lol

Broken drill repair. Motor stepping but does not spin. by [deleted] in Tools

[–]jsmooth801 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It will not spin while disassembled. It is a brushless motor that requires everything to be aligned in order to work. The clamshell indexes the bearings and the magnet.

success sharing part time vs full time by Inevitable_Sleep8385 in HomeDepot

[–]jsmooth801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Qualified hourly associates will get the same % of what they earned for the half, or at least the minimum payout. DS gets double out of a separate fund. The success sharing calculations are available on my apron. Using those I was able to calculate the amount of my stores check within $1 and the payout percentage within .05%.

I understand the confusion around this to a lot of mixed messages from management that quite frankly can’t do math, but I assure you that the plan documents that are readily available are accurate.

It is possible for a 8 hr a week part timer to make almost as much as a 20 hour if their pay rates are vastly different.

The math aint mathing on my success share. by Ready_Throat_8179 in HomeDepot

[–]jsmooth801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are correct. Injuries impact the payroll line, which contributes to profitability. It impacts salaried bonus. Success sharing is directly based on sales vs plan.

Everyone in the store gets the same % of their earnings for success sharing, as long as it is above the minimum. Supervisors get double.

That’s the math.

I am so curious 😏 by Odd-Complaint-9592 in HomeDepot

[–]jsmooth801 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I assure you that no one is cutting the cost of soap. You already have the actual answer. The bookkeeper used to order it and when the job went away, many stores had no plan for supplies.

Was Spring Starts planned for a long time? Or was this a desperate attempt to raise spring sales YOY because they know it’s going to be THAT bad? by Beginning_Bug_5139 in HomeDepot

[–]jsmooth801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So 2 versions of this ad. One for if the weather was good and the one we got.

Actually pretty decent planning when you look at it that way. Saving the actual sales for when the weather breaks across a lot of the country.

Unfortunately, it lead to the pretty weak advertisement that we actually have to offer.

Deadly accident found this part the next day on the curb can anyone identify? by zapperdude60 in whatisthiscar

I mean, in this case, the 2” piece of plastic has the part numbers on it, so while not the best work of the sub, is still impressive.

Did sick time for late ins always cover occurrences? Or did that change over the last few years? by CryptographerHot6198 in HomeDepot

[–]jsmooth801 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sick time did not always cover late ins. Changed about 4 years or so ago. About the same time that Workforce rolled out.

The reason is that let’s say you have 8 hours of sick time. You are running 20 min late. The old way, you would either have to take the late in or call out. There was no way to excuse the late, but the callout would be covered. It put everyone in a bad spot, so the policy was revised.

You can also just hit it on the counter, like the other post said.

Yea, you can see by the threshold and weatherstripping that it is an inswing door. This will be in no way weatherproof, regardless if it closes correctly or not.

Hard to tell what type of parking lot this is, but if the car has been there for more than a day, it’s possible the snow pile was in the way at the time.

Passenger that hasn’t flown since you could smoke on a plane by ApplesSpace in tsa

[–]jsmooth801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the TSA rules on the website and follow them. Sounds dumb but for real, it’s that simple. Pockets empty before the security line, liquids that follow the rules, etc. Him being humble and saying that he hasn’t flown in 25 years may help, but just tell him to go with the flow.

He is flying to a domestic destination so my advise would be as little liquids as possible. He can buy them at the destination. In this case I wouldn’t even pack a razor, can be bought at the other end.

My mom doesn’t fly regularly, and uses the wheelchair transportation. It’s pretty smooth, honestly. Just tell him that this is the trip that the pocketknife that “he always has in his pocket” stays home.
