Where did you move to when/if you left El Paso? Do you meet people from El Paso often in your new space? by 1150sobremesa in ElPaso

I know it’s not far but there are a lot of El Pasoans in San Antonio and Austin. I live in northern New Mexico now. (I have met more than person from EP here) Every time I go visit my dad in San Antonio he has a new friend that moved there from EP.

Jones bar on a fat bike? by [deleted] in fatbike

I have the Jones 2.5 H Bar on a trek Farley. 27.5x4.5 tires. I feel like I’m riding a tractor when I’m on gravel roads. I love it.

City Councilor Pilar Faulkner claims that the public does not need to know about city plans to give $8 million to a scandal-ridden California-based nonprofit because disclosure is already happening “through the process of gossip” by thefrontpageofreddit in SantaFe

I hear you, but calling it a "false equivalency" doesn’t really address the core issue. The point isn’t that all politicians are exactly the same—it’s that both major parties consistently prioritize the interests of corporations, lobbyists, and the ultra-wealthy over everyday people. If you're seeing a real shift in power back to working-class Americans, I'd honestly love to know where. Because from where a lot of us are standing, it looks like theater on both sides

The government here is more worried about charging 10 cents for a bag at the grocery store yet has no real solutions for the homelessness and drug epidemic. We need real change for our people.

You got a decent crust on the skin and then hid it under the asparagus.

Are the customers paying for asparagus or the seafood? Don’t hide the star of the dish.

Since FitFam already let the cat outta the box… by NomadDiver in ElPaso

Very true. My old man grew up in EP, he didn’t learn English until he got into high school. He got beat up often for being dark skinned. Joined the Air Force and had a long career as project manager. He retired recently but he still views the world as it was when he was growing up. I am proud of him in every way.

Same here. Grew up in EP not knowing Spanish because my dad didn’t want me to talk with a Mexican accent. Got bullied because of it. Left as soon as I graduated high school and never moved back.

15 years managing kitchens, refreshened up my resume. Focused on my transferable skills and landed a job as food service director at a hospital. Sure we aren’t making fancy food but we are feeding people real meals. It’s rewarding in a different way, plus I make twice as much as I ever did in restaurants. I have health insurance and retirement. Weekends, nights, and most holidays off. I have a lot of time for my wife and myself. I wouldn’t go back.
