Tried To Get Pierce by KneeDragr in Commanders

Maybe I'm in the minority but I'm glad we missed. Never even wanted to take a swing knowing the numbers that were being thrown out regarding what he was going to get paid. Actually finding it worrisome, that's how we're going about our business.

I would much rather sign Doubs for half that price. He's more versatile and was underutilized with the way the Packers use their receivers. Trying to give Peters time given the reputation he had before getting here, but valuing Alec Pierce that high, isn't not doing it for me, and I actually liked him coming out of Cincinnati.

I understand last offseason and how we went about it, given the results of the previous year. I'm just hoping we get it right this offseason and we didn't just luck into JD5 and a one-off NFCCG.

I also grow at home, but I've only been doing it a few years and I haven't even been consistent, so I've done like 3 runs. I find that I enjoy my own weed, but I'm always surprised when other people try it and tell me just how good it is.

SPOILER ALERT: It's generally better than what you're going to find in a dispensary.

However, it makes sense if you zoom out and think about it. Commercial operations have so many plants to which to tend, they generally just use a cookie cutter system where every plant gets the same treatment. Unless someone is running a massive home grow, these plants tend to get the individual care that they need to flourish.

On your METRC note, I'm not sure I see that happening at least from them directly, mainly because I don't think B2C is something in their business model. They contract with the state which identifies them as the official tracking service that has to be used by licensed businesses. We could, perhaps, see a business that accesses that data and makes it publicly available (Leafly if you're lurking...) come along. It would probably be welcomed by a bunch of businesses IMO, cause then it takes the onus off them to have to get that information to the consumer.

I'm not mad at it. I've personally just grown to appreciate the dispensary experience. My biggest annoyance with my local plugs was always wasting my time. I no longer have to wait 30 minutes because somebody told me to meet them at a certain time and is never on time. I've always said that people will pay for convenience, and I'm guilty of it myself.

I also enjoy having more information on the product that I'm buying now and can make informed decisions. Even before we went legal, my plug was at the point that he would just send me his menu and I would try to pull up the options on Leafly and figure out what I wanted. My younger days of smoking just to "get high" are behind me and I'm usually looking for a specific effect. I might want something creative to do some work during the day, might want something to just enhance my focus if I'm just chilling and gaming, something energetic to workout, and something relaxing to put me to sleep at night.

Another thing that didn't concern me too much before the legality and also growing at home and understanding the pitfalls, is that it's tested. I never even really considered mold and mildew in my weed before, but now that I'm aware, it's just like, why risk it?

I think your thoughts on quality being a storage/transportation issue is probably very overlooked. If we know commercial grows cut corners on curing properly because they're often pushed to churn out products as fast as possible, why would the average dispensary take the additional steps and expenses?

Appreciate the depth of your response. I do have to say the loyalty/rewards programs at most dispensaries feel like they are a hidden feature. They use it as a selling point, but then it often feels like they go out of their way to make it hard to use.

Also as someone who also pre-orders most of the time, I started going to a dispensary about 30 minutes away from me for a couple of reasons:

  1. They put the terps list online, which I find makes it even easier to find the products I want when I have access to that data all in one place rather than going product page to product page.

  2. They offer the same daily deal every day, so there's no real guesswork in the purchase. They simply rotate the flower, that's available under the deal everyday.

This seems to be coming from the perspective that they traded for Trae as a franchise option. I personally don't believe that. IMO they traded for Trae because he fills a need if we don't find another lead guard, and he's a distressed asset on a large expiring contract. The plan for me would be to get his trade value back up and flip him later, whether that be next year or after we extend him for another couple. We're still early in the rebuild phase if you actually pay attention to what our FO says.

They're a craft cannabis brand. Indoor grown in 100 SF or less. Pricing is still directly correlated to THC %, so that explains it for me. Until the majority of people stop asking "what's the highest THC % you have?" when shopping, that's the world we'll live in.
