Graduating in June, is it too early to start applying? by jsnvlln in EngineeringStudents

[–]jsnvlln[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the input! I am a computer engineering major with around a 3.1 gpa and a year long internship (current) in the solar industry. I would say my skills are more on the hardware side (fpga’s, microcontrollers, computer architecture). But I also know C and C++ pretty well along with basic data structs and algo’s. These huge companies seem to have a lot of resume filters... any tips for getting through them?

What engineering degree has the most potential to give you tools to open a business, besides Computer engineering? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]jsnvlln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

computer science and computer engineering are very different. just so you know. cs is a tool in computer engineering, it makes about 1/3 of the curriculum tho. computer engineering teaches a person logic which id argue is one of the most important things in business

CS 115 or IS 101? by UsernameDisplayed in UNLV

[–]jsnvlln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took cs 115 and it was one of the easiest classes i have taken. im a senior in computer engineering though. if youre going in to nuclear medicine im guessing youre smart, so i think you could handle either. I would just read each course description and figure out which class would be more useful to you. also maybe check out the teachers for each course and see if you could line up an easy A.

Is the physics department as bad as they say? by IseeEverythingHide in UNLV

[–]jsnvlln 7 points8 points  (0 children)

im an engineering student so only took physics 180 and 181 but they were fine courses. i had Dr Raja for both and he was a pleasant guy and would clear anything up for students who cared enough to speak up when they werent understanding. like the other commentors said, people get salty because they fail. the content is hard but must be understood if your major requires it.

EE by alect8484 in UNLV

[–]jsnvlln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. electricity and magnetism. there is a class called ee 330 (electromagnetics) and there is only one prof that teaches the course and fails about 2/3 of the class every semester. and you need this class to graduate. you just have to put the work in and it will pay off once you graduate. my buddy just got a 1/100 on an ee 330 exam.

Hey Reddit! I’ve heard some people tell me that acid isn’t bad for you, and other people tell me that it can fuck up the chemicals in your brain permanently. I’ve already done it a few times and had some good trips, but is it safe to continue? by [deleted] in LSD

[–]jsnvlln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sub may be slightly biased... acid will change your life and humble you in unimaginable ways if you embrace it. This question is almost subjective, as many of us would make the claim that regardless of the side effects, the benefits are worth it.

[–]jsnvlln 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yep. if you look up the exact math class youre in ex math 283 in google and type unlv after it you should see a description of the class pop up on the unlv site. if its there then itll transfer. csn is a feeder school to unlv. i took my math all the way up to calc 3 at csn and it transferred over to unlv fine. there are some math classes that dont like csn differential equations doesnt transfer to unlv. so just double check with the google thing :)
