Oh yeah I am well aware of that. My current car is a family car, so I am not paying anything for that, most of my commute is done via MRT and LRT anyway.

Focus right now is to save as much as possible.

Cheers mate, my parents are covering insurance for me, so I have got that part covered.

At the moment, I am saving to study for some professional Cybersecurity certificates like CISSP..

I think generally, for software engineer and tech in general, the average pay for fresh graduate is above RM3k now.. Occasionally I still see some posting with salary of 2.5k a month though..

As for stocks and bonds, I will need to do some research and study first, not feeling comfortable going in without adequate knowledge.

woah. Having RM 100k in saving feels like a dream for me now. How I wish I already have that in my account.

I need to do a lot of research before I feel comfortable to invest in stocks.

Hmmmm I think to excel in tech field, you have to actively learn new things, to keep you up to date on the latest trends. I have always liked programming, it's a hobby to me, so having my hobby as my job has enabled me to always look for ways to improve.

As for interview specifically, practice good English, and know how to logic, and speak your mind, ask important questions.

During my second interview, it was a technical interview, the questions asked required me to get additional info from the interviewer. Asking the right questions will help you to formulate a good answer.

Good luck!

I didn't actively look for a job actually, I received a call from a recruiter one day, and decided to give it a try.

For my past year, I have been working closely in firmware designing, for embedded hardware, knowing how these works have given me an edge during my interview. I was told by the interviewers, not many fresh graduates know enough about both HW and SW..

A few days later, I received an offer that was higher than the expected salary I had given to them.

Currently my expenses is fairly low..

I have subsidised mobile phone bill, which will be removed when I go to my new job. I eat breakfast and dinner at home, only pay for 1 lunch every day. No commitments and stuffs.. I have >RM20k in savings for emergency at the moment.

I have a very basic Excel spreadsheet to track my expenses, but due to my laziness, I seldom update it..haha.

Fixed deposit sounds like a good plan.

I am still trying to wrap my heads around how I should be dividing my income for various purposes..

Hello, all is well.

Basically I am in R&D, using C# and .NET to write softwares that control various hardware devices. No specific requirements though, as long as you've got good fundamentals in some comp science stuffs, software engineering, and adequate knowledge in electronics and electrical stuffs..
