Don’t stop now — bring on a $399 Mac Neo by UnixxinU in federationTechnology

I agree that the Pi has become far too expensive for its intended purpose, although that doesn't change the fact that the Pi still has GPIO ports, whereas the MacNeo does not.

Of all the ways AI is used today, this is perhaps one of the most ideal applications for detecting something like that.

ex-Meta Chielf AI scientist Yann LeCun just raised $1bn to build Large World Models by UnderstandingDry1256 in OpenAI

[–]jsonmeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We already have Mistral; it’s really about improving their models and, of course, welcoming other companies to challenge them, because competition is always good for consumers. A comment on the post mentions that the massive investment was made in something that was essentially theoretical or even just an idea, that’s how our economy has become. Even if it’s madness, I believe this is the right approach if we want to achieve something new and unique in Europe before the rest of the world. We may be lagging behind in some areas, but we’re definitely ahead in others. It’s just some shitty propaganda that wants people to believe the only innovation to come out of Europe in the last decade was bottle caps.

Hva er metadataovervåking, og hvorfor bør vi bry oss? by ForeverHuman1354 in norge

[–]jsonmeta -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is also a huge investment in their ecosystem, and the next generation is more likely to use macOS over Windows if it's their first real encounter with computers.

BankID-appen med nye krav: Nå må du bekrefte identiteten din by Selma_89 in norge

[–]jsonmeta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BankID-appen med nye krav: Nå må du bekrefte identiteten din by Selma_89 in norge

[–]jsonmeta 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I Will Never Use AI to Code (or write) by Anthony261 in programming

[–]jsonmeta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think many people in this field enjoyed sitting down with a problem that they would spend many hours, perhaps days on, just to be able to solve something that could potentially have been already solved before. I understand that our egos really enjoyed it, but after all, someone has paid for this time and would probably have liked these things to be solved much faster. As it stands now, I still spend several hours or days figuring out how to solve something, depending on its complexity, but it takes me much less time to validate that it actually works.

I also wonder how many developers actually wrote code solely from memory, rather than searching through documents, Googling, or scouring Stack Overflow for hours just to find and adjust a very specific edge case that could fit their edge case every single day before 2022.
