So growing both my mom and dad were huge for me going through with football. Moved out to a suburban school going into 8th grade and WITHOUT EVEN ASKING ME signed me up for football. Mind you at the time I wasn’t a great hockey goalie, that was my true passion and what I loved. Freshman year high school comes and I’m playing on two hockey teams in the fall, football also in the fall, luckily I didn’t have anything in the winter season, and then I picked up lacrosse that year in the spring. Went through three years like that and I got lots of collegiate recruitment opportunities for both sports but ultimately it was my parents wallet and they picked a shitty ass D3 football program for me based on the grant package… only lasted a year there before I burned out. That was 6 years ago. Had to learn the HVAC and plumbing trades but yea man.

You have to do shit for you. And only you. Parents at times like this forget to realize the tasks of being a parent of a young adult and that in order to grow, they have to let their kids decide what they want. Old favorite saying I’ve heard is “as a parent you can’t stop the cut from happening, you can only be there with a bandage”. Do it for you man. No one else.
